I looked up in surprise. It was Clarissa. "You're really good at disappearing without a word. You're still the same as when you were ten." I opened my mouth, unsure of what to say, and lowered my head. "Clarissa, I-I don't deserve your kindness." Her warm hand covered the back of mine. "I heard the Ragaan Republic has a lot of rain. Tomas howled and moved away to look at some of the boxes Eve had packed earlier. He peeled back the cardboard flaps of one box and took out a leather-bound book, fanning through the pages, his features set in lines of deep thought. He closed the book with a little snap and placed it back on top of the others. He turned to look at Diana and howled again. Eve shook her head and whispered something. "Well, forget I said that; I don't want to intrude on someone’s private life,” Eve grumbled as she continued her chanting.

Yvie came over and hugged my arm, and she had a diamond ring on her ring finger while sliding the other on my finger. "Congratulations, Dr. Jonas!" Everyone cheered once they recovered from the marvel of Yvie's beauty. Mary couldn't look more mundane compared to her, and with Yvie around, no one was dumb enough to believe that I was that blind to choose Mary. Yvie smiled as she happily nodded at everyone congratulating her, adding, "Everyone is young and reckless sometimes. That's the case for my dear George, falling for a rotten apple like that."

When the Werewolf Council found that my signature was incorrect and sent it back, it must have been weeks later. I tried to recall what wishes Noah might have. After Noah died, I had found his diary. Noah wrote that there were three things he regretted. The first regret was choosing me as his Luna, the second was not rebelling against his parents’ arrangements, and the third was not saving Harper’s life. His first wish had already been fulfilled. I would never be his Luna.

The light was so small and fragile, just like my hope. "Go on," Sophia urged gently. "Wish for something." Her voice was patient and kind. I closed my eyes. I wish... I wish I could stop hoping. I wish I could stop waiting for love that will never come. I wish I could accept that I am alone in this world. I wish I could learn to be enough for myself. I opened my eyes and blew out the candle. The smoke curled upward and disappeared. Sophia clapped softly. "What did you wish for?"

It was as if the livestream had been silenced. For two whole seconds, the screen was completely blank. Then, the comments began to flood in. Someone even sent a row of question marks. "Wait a second.
