Rows of lab benches were lined with equipment, and a few lab technicians in white coats were busy with their work. Lisa approached one of the technicians, a young woman with short blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. “Excuse me,” Lisa said, forcing a polite smile. “I’m Dr. Lisa Monroe, here to observe. I turned off my phone and cried all the way home. I went straight to the refrigerator to grab my wine. I needed to calm my nerves. I pulled out my phone, turned it on, and called Kita.
