He blew a long, low note. It wasn't a song of nature. it was a Industrial Dirge. The World-Oak responded. Its branches didn't grow leaves; they grew long, flexible conduits of silver-wood that reached out toward the Exiles’ machinery. The tree began to "plug into" the steam-cannons, acting as a natural boiler. The pressure gauges on Vane’s armor spiked into the red. "What is the tree doing?" Vane shouted, her eyes wide. "It’s giving you a boost!" Audrey yelled over the din.

Just above her eye level, a series of symbols were carved into the bark of each of the twisting trunks. They were all facing in toward one another and identical except for one small detail: the symbols were each comprised of six dots in a hexagonal pattern, but two of the symbols on opposite trunks were painted white while the dots of the other two were black.

The pink spirals around the trunk formed intricate swirls, which looked old, almost like human, Celtic designs. And, as we watched, the pink spirals shifted, making way for words that were being carved into the centre of the tree’s trunk. I read the words out loud. “And this is for him.”

Lilian spoke from behind and that was fucking true. They can control anything to their will and this trees might be an hologram for what is deep behind it. I walked closer to the tree and placed both my hands on it. The tree thumps loudly beneath my palm like a human’s heart. This is insane!! I don’t even get what’s going on at this point. “Lilian try checking the views from the above, Lucky try checking if they’re other trees like this and Mateo this tree seems like it’s beating look if they’re others like this while the rest of us will try climbing” I ordered immediately.

Looking at them he said, “So after Joshua’s death I thought hard and long on how to keep him around in our lives and what better way than a family tree. At the bottom of the trunk, we have Shawn’s name, which you can say is like our foundation. The tree only has three sturdy branches, one for me, Sebastian and Joshua. The extending minor branches each have a blue crystal that represents our children, and it is extendable, we just have to take it back.”
