Paris The Novels & Stories

Paris, the city of lights, beckons with promises of opportunity and adventure. “Paris... It's been too long since I've visited”. He gazes out the window, lost in contemplation. Serena? Come in here? My heart was excited about Paris, I was smiling with teeth wide open, and I maintained composure as soon as I noticed I was acting weird. “Cancel my appointments for next month. I'll be in Paris. “Paris, sir? Are you sure”? “I know you were listening in the other line, so don't act surprised. It's time for a change of scenery”

Even in these fleeting snapshots, Paris had an undeniable romance to it. Our hotel—Le Grand Paris—was a magnificent historic building in what Scarlett informed me was "the absolute best part of the 8th arrondissement, darling, literally steps from everything important." The ornate façade was illuminated by tasteful lighting, highlighting the belle époque architecture and intricate stonework.

"Now, if that's okay." I do have that one in Fiji to finish up, but I'll work this one and give the Fiji wedding to Gabe to take care of. "So where's this one?" "Paris." I blink rapidly. "As in Paris, France?" He nods. "The client is paying big dollars for us to plan the whole wedding. So first class, and all accommodation and expenses are paid for." Paris, the City of Lights? My dream destination? Calm down, Ryan! I clamp a hand over my mouth, hardly able to contain my excitement. Baguettes, croissants, and the Seine? I'm there.

"Can we stay forever?" "No." "A month?" "No." "A week?" "Yes." He cheered. Maxine laughed. She hailed a cab. As they drove through the city, she stared out the window. The streets looked like paintings. Rows of elegant buildings. Flower shops on corners. People sitting outside cafés even in the cold weather. Musicians performing near intersections. Paris felt alive. Noah pointed at everything. "Mommy, look!" "Mommy, look there!" "What is that?" "I don't know."

he said with a faint smile. I narrowed my gaze at him and turned to look at the window briefly He tried again. “So… Paris. You like it?” “It’s fine,” I said after a while realizing he was waiting for me to say something. “Fine?” he repeated, like that wasn’t enough. “This is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and you call it fine?” “It’s fine,” I repeated. He smiled again, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “You’re hard to please.”

Andrea said before she could stop herself. Henry looked up and his gaze met hers. “Paris,” she added, because the words were already out. “I expected it to feel like something extraordinary, with the images and rumors I heard about it, but it just feels normal –like a city. Like the people who live here are normal, it is Tuesday morning and they are simply… living.” She wrapped both hands around her coffee cup when it arrived and kept her gaze on the window. “That is exactly what it is,” Henry said bluntly

When we land, Odette whisks me away to a chic penthouse right in the heart of Paris. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. The Eiffel Tower stands tall against the skyline, and the whole city seems to be shimmering with life.
