BRAHAM'S POV "Braham, there are monsters in my room." His small voice pulled me from sleep. I blinked in the darkness and found him standing in the bedroom doorway, his dragon book clutched to his chest, his eyes wide with fear. "What kind of monsters, buddy?" I asked softly, careful not to wake Millie. She'd finally fallen asleep an hour ago after tossing and turning, her mind clearly stuck on waiting for test results. "Big ones. With teeth and claws. They were chasing with me." His voice trembled.

I whispered with a loving smile, "which story would you like tonight?" Mathew's face lit up with excitement, his tiny hands reaching for his favorite book. "The one about the brave little wolf, Mumma!" I chuckled as I opened the book, a captivating story about a young wolf's grand adventure. Mathew listened with rapt attention, his eager eyes fixed on the pages as I spun the tale of bravery and exploration. By the time I reached the part where the little wolf found solace under the silvery glow of the moon, my son was already fast asleep.

A small nightlight shaped like a rocket ship glowed in the corner. "Mummy, can you read me a story?" Bernard asked, his big eyes looking up at her hopefully. She smiled and brushed his hair back. "Of course, sweetheart. Which one?" "The one about the brave knight!" Mrs. Harrington reached for the book on the nightstand and began reading. Her voice was soft and soothing, painting pictures of castles and dragons in the boy's imagination. Within minutes, Bernard's eyelids grew heavy, and soon he was fast asleep. She kissed his forehead gently, turned off the main light, and stepped out of the room, closing the door quietly behind her.

She smiles as she climbs into bed. Kim smile as she moves over next to Brianna. I walk over taking a seat at the end of the bed as Kim open the book. "The very hungry caterpillar." She read the title to Brianna before opening the book. "In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf. One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and pop out the egg came a very tiny and a very hungry caterpillar." Kim looks over at me sitting on the end of the bed and smile as she turns the page and continues to read the book.

“Sure, I’ll read it. But then we eat breakfast, okay?” “Okay,” Bella said, wiggling sideways to press into my side. My smile broadened, and I flipped to the front of the book. “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” I began. “In the light of the moon a little egg laid on a leaf…” A I B , I took her downstairs to get breakfast ready. As I rounded the bottom of the steps, I realized there was someone sitting at the table and startled so violently I almost dropped Bella.

"Mama. Dada. Luna sleep?" "It's 7 PM, baby. Way past your bedtime." "Story first?" "Always story first." We followed her to her room—no longer a nursery, now a full toddler room with a big girl bed she'd recently transitioned to. "Which book tonight?" Alexander asked. "ALL books!" "We're not reading all the books. Pick three." "Five!" "Three." "Four!" "Deal. Four books." She selected them carefully. "Hungry Caterpillar. Wild Things. Good Night Moon. And... this one!"

Madison storms into the bedroom with a look of rage in her eyes. "What are you doing in here?" She demands to know. "I just wanted to see what she looked like," my five-year-old self begins to stutter. "I am your mother now," Madison hiss at me as she rips the book from my hands. I watch in horror as Madison tosses the book into the fireplace, and the flames immediately consume the book. Tears roll down my cheeks as I watch the book burn before Madison drags me out of the bedroom. As the memory fades in my mind, the tears in my eyes do not. Tears stream down my face as I look at the woman before me. Suddenly, it all clicks together like puzzle pieces.

But, I was on high alert, and I would remain on high alert until I left, whether that was in a body bag or my own four paws. I flopped down on the bed. It wasn’t the most comfortable mattress, but it would do. I grabbed one of the books Blair had loaned me. The one in question was one I had picked up just last night. One of the few books that existed on lycans. However, it was within the first few pages that I fell asleep.

“I need to stay as close to Alpha Aiden as possible just in case he wakes up and needs my ethical help“ I tried to convince myself. *Yawn Yawn Yawn* The book I’m reading is so boring ,filled with histories that I get really sleepy when I’m just on the 3rd page. ***** “This teddy bear is so big and warm” I whispered, wrapping my arms around the big teddy bear on my bed. “First you named a rabbit after me and now you are calling me a teddy bear …I wonder what next will come out of those lips of yours' ' came a husky sleepy deep voice.
