"Poor lighting. A localized skin irritation due to... extreme professional stress and the unforgiving New York humidity." A low, cynical chuff sounded from behind me. I spun around. Ranger was sitting by the front door, his tail giving a single, mocking thud against the hardwood. Beside him, Soldier was leaning against the coat rack, watching me with an expression that was entirely too human for a creature that spent its day sniffing fire hydrants and chasing pigeons in Central Park.

He was tall, lean, and had that kind of easy smile that made girls swoon. Raven was holding his arm and giggling at something he said before I arrived. She didn’t even try to hide the way she touched his chest or brushed imaginary lint off his shirt. I smiled knowing they were into each other. If this was the little thing Raven was into now, I’d make sure it ended before I left this patrol. “Hi, guys,” I said, putting on my friendliest voice. “I’m Paige. Guess I’ll be working with you.” Felix gave me a polite nod. “Hey, I’m Felix. This is Darren and Kara.”

Fang’s POV Patrol is supposed to be boring. That’s the whole point of it. You walk the borders, sniff the trees, maybe growl at a squirrel, and then you go home. Well, that's how it's been for a while. But tonight? Tonight decides to screw me over. One second, it’s just me and the quiet woods. The next, shadows flicker between the trees. Too fast. The eyes, they held too much intelligence to be just a dog's eyes; they looked right through him and he got the distinct impression that if he made the wrong move, he'd never make it back to his truck alive. Comments from the audience, please.” Everyone observed its aura and age range, before quickly making calculations. Someone finally raised an arm up.

I turned to look directly at the red-dressed dark-haired guy, "This's Tyler, the red ranger," my gaze then went to the girl with a pink jacket and straight back hair, "Shelby, the pink ranger," the guy with a green cap and small eyes, "Riley, the green ranger," my eyes took in the excited form of the guy with messy hair up to his shoulders and his muscle packed biceps, "Koda, blue ranger, " and finally resting on the guy with a white button-up shirt with black pants, "and Ivan, the gold ranger"

FLASHBACK Rio Sanjaya ordered his dark horse to stop for a moment with a watchful gaze. The surrounding trees were violet under the bluish moonlight. After listening to something for a while, Rio stomped his horse back on his way without haste. Many times his eyes darted to the edge of the path he was passing. The movement in the thickets brought Rio to a halt again, his horse grunting and neighing softly. Rio drew the double-edged ax he threw onto his back. The handle of the object was rather long and silvery in color. Each blade bears a sign of a roaring tiger.
