As they fight, one lunges for Lucas, jaw snaps for Lucas throat, but he twisted mid-leap, claws raking through the scout’s side and he crashed to the ground. He looks beside him, and Talia is there, powerfully colliding with a scout twice her size. Her fangs find the wolf’s neck, and with a powerful shake, she throws it aside. They had no time to rest as the scouts attacked them from different corners. Another Scott came for Talia, but Lucas intercepted it, with a loud growl and a warning that shook the earth. One of the scouts lunges at me; it’s fangs bared, but I meet him head-on. Pain sliced through my shoulder as claws raked against me, but Lucas stood strong. We drive forward, snapping

“That’s when power settles.” She sighed softly. “I don’t want power.” “I know,” he said. “That’s why it listens to you.” Before she could respond, a sharp knock sounded at the door. Varek was on his feet instantly, every trace of softness gone, Alpha instincts snapping into place. He opened the door to reveal a breathless scout. “Alpha,” the scout said urgently. “Eastern woods. We’ve lost contact with Patrol Three.” Aria sat up immediately. “Lost contact?”

He had explained nonchalantly, "She's just an intern from work. She knows nothing about the world and is always curious. So I'd show her around." I didn't argue, nor did I question him. I simply nodded. "Okay." The young woman, unbothered, held onto his arm with a bright, sweet smile. There was a glint of challenge in her eyes. "You must be Esther Wilder. Tristan's told me about you." She was glowing. It was clear that Tristan was doting on her. Later, I looked her up. Her name was Chloe Murray. She was 21 years old, with a beautiful face and an outgoing personality.

A knock suddenly echoed at the door and before either of us answered, one of the scouts rushed inside soaked from rain. “Alpha.” I turned sharply. “What now?” The scout bowed quickly. “We returned from the southern border.” Every part of me went still instantly and Ronan crossed his arms. “Report.” The scout swallowed nervously. “We found signs of movement near the Lycan territory.” “What kind of movement?” “Royal patrols.” That alone made my wolf restless and the scout continued carefully. “And another scent.” My pulse started ringing harder. “What scent?” The scout hesitated for one second too long.

Without waiting for an answer Omar turned and walked down the hall to the stairs, he wanted to get to the palace early too. Skeikh Khalid was already in the car which was on and running, he sighted Omar coming out of the house and couldn't have felt more proud of his son at this moment, things would happen tonight which would pay off his patience and he was just as eager as a child waiting in the heat for the ice-cream man to set up a cone of the flavoured ice. He was also as anxious and nervous as he was eager, he rubbed his palms together and breathed out. Omar got in the back seat beside his father and Taheem got in the front passenger seat.

She smiled as she nodded, “It does.” A warrior ran to the door and asked, “Princess, can you come with me, please? Griffon is at the door.” I nodded as I turned to follow him. When I got to the door, I stepped out and smiled, “Griffon. I’m so happy you’re here.” He hugged me and sighed, “They are sending scouts. Would you like my animals to let you know when they are close?” I smiled, “I would. Our warriors on patrol will grab them. Thank you. Do you know how many?” He replied, “It looks like four.” I nodded, “Yeah, the warriors on patrol can get them. What animal do you think you could send to grab one of our warriors?” He replied, “I could send a deer to get one and take him to them.” I sm

The pants were a little tighter than he would have liked but he looked badass as he slipped his knives and hostlers into their places. “Ok, first we go to the waterfall and find the scent, watch for marks from our scout, he may still be tracking. Albwin you will be our head scout Callum will watch our backs. It will take an hour to reach the waterfall. If you see anything suspicious let us know. Even if it's just a dead rodent or you think it's nothing do not check it on your own. Report back.” Archie commanded Callum nodded and turned on his heel to scout behind them as Albwin melted into the trees ahead of them. Archie nodded at Torin and they headed out.

The other scouts joined me and we walked in pack formation around the Eastern border. "Four of you stay here. Three of you, follow me." I gave the order telepathically and immediately I was advancing with three other wolves while the other four stayed back to patrol that area. We stepped gingerly and cautiously. I could hear the snarls of the other warriors as they walked behind me sniffing the air and observing the area. We were all on high alert.

I want to get back to normal. *** Trent POV My paws pound against the forest floor, kicking up small little clouds of dirt and leaves as trees buzz past. I don’t care who or what I’ll find. I want at least one aspect of this nightmare to end. Through the pack link, I ask the patrol who spotted the intruder, “How many did you see? Did you recognize them? Did you spot anything odd or different about them?” More questions bubble up, but I keep them to myself.
