I spend time in the gardens till the moon is high up in the sky, trying and failing to figure it out. The silence of the night doesn't last. A young omega bursts into the greenhouse doors, panic clearly written on her face as she speaks, "Luna Sabrina... There's a scout at the door. He's bleeding!" I'm already on my feet before she says anything else. We run to the entrance of the packhouse and what I see makes my heart stop in my chest. A young male scout is sprawled on the stairs leading to the doors, blood leaking from a large gash on his ribs that he's clutching heavily. That's not the only source of the bleeding but I can tell it's the heaviest.

The howl echoed through the forest, sharp and urgent. Dale and Juke sprint toward the sound. The undergrowth cracked beneath their feet as the scent of blood hit their nostrils. Dale’s chest tightened as the sound grew louder, more desperate. “There,” Juke said, pointing to a figure slumped near the base of an old oak. An injured scout, his fur matted with blood, shifted weakly into his human form. “Arif’s wolves,” the scout rasped, his voice hoarse. “Near the border... rallying.”

Varek was on his feet instantly, every trace of softness gone, Alpha instincts snapping into place. He opened the door to reveal a breathless scout. “Alpha,” the scout said urgently. “Eastern woods. We’ve lost contact with Patrol Three.” Aria sat up immediately. “Lost contact?”

“Kyla is my lover, and the two are mates. It’s… complicated, but I’d be very thankful.” The scout’s eyebrows shoot up as she hears Dereck. She then considers me and Kyla once more before shaking her head in disbelief and then replies, “then I’ll request enough for everyone. I never thought two leaders like them could be mates, but you were one to befriend the oddest of people all the time, so I’m not surprised.” At last, the scout stops just outside a pair of large doors. She gives it a knock and then, with a loud voice, she says, “the leaders and Dereck are here now.”

Elias raised his arm covered in steel to support it. Unexpectedly, one jumped behind Lily, it opened its mouth full of long, pointed fangs, drooling at Lily. She screamed in despair, reaching out her right hand towards the beast. Suddenly, a beam of light from the red crescent-shaped birthmark in the center of Lily's right palm hit the beast. Both animals were immediately drawn to the roadside stand of two stone statues. Neither Lily nor Elias understood what was happening. Lily's body seemed to exude that power, so she lost her strength and fainted. Elias whirled around, taking her in his big palm.

But Shane’s scent was here, clear as day. Shane spotted the rebels clan out near the edge of the village, looking across the pack. Shane only had two helpers backing him up, and with an attack force of only three, it stood to reason that he would be trying to go straight for the jugular by taking out the alpha. Moments later, Scar located Shane and his goons, creeping along on four legs downwind of the rebels, slowly advancing on to their direction , their tails twitching in impending attack.

I watched Rose leave beyond the training grounds. Kieran fixed his eyes on mine. "Whatever this medallion is..." "It belongs with you." "But do not take it off, unless you have no other choice." I nodded slowly. "I will not." Outside the city walls of Greenwood... Deep into the eastern woods… A lone Scout from greenwood ran through the woods because he noticed a strange wolf in woods. The lone greenwood scout stopped finally at the sight of massive paw prints in the ground. “It's obvious this is ancient and more powerful”. He said.

My eyes narrowed at the patrol guy that stood in front of me, swear cascading down the side of his temple. “Report?” I barked. “What is it?” “The scouts have returned from the eastern border.” My ears perked up at his words, while he took a few seconds to catch his breath. “They found tracks. They're fresh and obviously belongs to rogues. They were also trying to hide and set up a camp of some sort in the bushes, but we caught a scent.” “Whose scent?” I stiffened. “Did you recognize it?” “Its unfamiliar.” He hesitated. “But we feel like that's not all. The scent might be a decoy to throw us off….”
