The door opened a crack, just enough for Peter to peer out, but I pushed into the office. His eyes were red and swollen, like he’d been crying. "Were you crying?" I asked slowly. He looked away, "Something got in my eyes." He sniffled. Bullshit! I can’t believe he actually cried. I bit down on my jaw, trying to control the frustration. "Can I… can I hug you?"

A complete, shattered mess. "Angelina, when did you get back?" Peter's gentle voice called out as he walked onto the balcony. His warm smile instantly faltered when he saw the thick tears streaming from my eyes. He closed the distance and immediately engulfed me in a tight, comforting hug. "I—I—" I stuttered, struggling to speak through my violent sobs. "Shh," Peter cooed, stroking my back. He kept whispering soft, encouraging words into my hair while just letting me cry. And I did cry. I cried for my ruined life, for my unborn child's stolen life, for my lost love... I cried for Danzel.

“He has done bad things that could hurt us, and now he needs to face the consequences!” “You don't know anything! I love him!” Peter replied, and his voice was now full of tears. The sound made my heart hurt even more. “I love him too, but that doesn’t change what he did!” I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. “Peter, I just want you to be safe. We cannot ignore what happened.” The door slowly opened, and Peter was there, his eyes full of tears. He looked so small, so vulnerable. “You don't understand,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “He is my father. I can’t just forget about it.”

Us wolves have a high pain tolerance, but we are not immortal. I saw tears break free from his eyes thinking about his failures. Dampness glistened off ruddy red cheeks as he sobbed silently to himself. The sound of his chains and ragged breathing filled the room, making it feel like it was echoing off the walls. ‘Baby, let me take over,’ Parker’s voice floated in my head. He sounded as if he was pleading with me. I stood without saying anything, and headed towards the door. Parker opened it, avoiding eye contact as I passed by him.

The impact brought forth a piercing scream filled with despair, a sound that made everyone feel a deep sorrow. Peter felt his energy field shattered quickly, and his vital energy dissipated utterly. He looked weak, and his face turned pale with terror and panic. "No! No!" he cried. "My energy field is still there. It has to be. Let me try again!" Peter's face was filled with panic and fear as he kept shouting and rolling on the ground while tears streamed from his eyes. "Argh! Why is this happening to me!" he wailed. "I've only tortured and killed dozens of people and played with hundreds of women. Isn't this the privilege of someone as distinguished as me? Why is this happening to me?

Eventually, I got Peter to relax and he looked at me, sweating and pale looking. "I'm really sorry, Harold. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have. I'm sorry." He cried to me. "That is fine, Peter. You just focus on healing and I promise you that I would take all your apologies." I said to him, "I'll lose my arm, won't I?" He asked me. "Can't say. May I take a look?" I asked him. "Yes. I have fresh treatment stuff in my car I guess." He managed and just then, the door opened and there was Jacob standing there. He looked really sad and before I could speak, he started already.

"Mr. Martinez, please stand. Don't do this. I understand how you feel…" The moment her fingers touched his arm, everything changed. Peter, who had been weeping moments earlier, snapped his head up. The sorrow and despair vanished from his eyes, replaced by a wild, murderous gleam. "Do you really understand me Then why don't you kill yourself?"

He was here. "Parker," I gasped out. The feeling of a knife piercing through my chest and out my back made black spots dance in front of my vision. My eyes bulged from my head from the agony, and I fought to keep consciousness as a singular light blinded me before dimming and disappearing into the darkness. Parker shifted back to his human form. His deep brown eyes bore into mine with liquid lining the lower lid. "I'm here, baby. It's all going to be okay."

She was the only thing that kept the monster inside me caged. “It couldn’t have just been about access,” Jeremy muttered again, but then something outside the windshield made him freeze. “What’s happening—?” I followed his gaze. And then I saw it. Everything inside of me went still. Peter was being held upright by two of my men, his body slumped between them, barely conscious, if at all. His head hung forward, blood streaming from his scalp, coating his face and soaking his torn shirt. He looked... destroyed. Broken. And I hadn’t even gotten close yet.
