APRIL People tell stories of going to heaven and returning, and most times, no one believes their tales. On my part, I didn’t need anyone to believe my tales, but it was hard not to want to tell the tales of the marvelous ride through bliss that Nick had taken me through. Indeed, I went to Heaven, and I frankly didn’t want to return back to earth. Nick definitely wasn’t joking when he said I would pay for teasing him back at the restaurant. The things he’d done to me were worth testifying about on an altar, rallying an audience and singing his praises as well.

“Who this this?!---- “C-chaos…help us.” I heard Heaven’s voice on the other line sobbing. “They here to kill us, help----NO!”

"Shit." The sausage. The one I picked up from the ground earlier. I must have shoved it in my pocket without thinking. For a second, I almost laughed. Almost. Did she see that? His knees buckled, and he stumbled back, his voice trembling. "T-Three million? But we started at two dollars a hand…" I smiled. I had said the same thing in my previous life, but he hadn't shown me any mercy then. In this life, why should I show him any? I pulled out my phone and played the video I had secretly recorded. Naturally, it didn't capture the part where I switched the card. As I locked eyes with Lawrence, a faint smile curled at my lips, though it didn't quite reach my eyes. "Everyone agreed to the new rules, didn't they? What's the matter, Lawrence? Are you backing out now? You're not a sore loser, are you?"

It did not travel. It simply existed. Aurelian felt it within him, as natural as his own existence. “You are order.” “You are purpose.” “You are mine.” The response came instantly, unified across Heaven. “We are yours.” There was no delay. There was no variation. Aurelian’s voice joined the others, identical in tone, identical in certainty. Perfect. A command followed. Not spoken in words, but understood completely. Movement. The stillness of Heaven shifted. Wings extended, not with sound, but with light. Thousands of beings rose at once, ascending through the radiant expanse without disrupting its balance.
