Several blocks away, the sniper adjusted his scope. His breath stilled as he lined up the shot. The red dot danced over the table, steady, deliberate.
“Time’s almost up,” he muttered.
In his earpiece, Alessandro’s voice came again. “Hold. Thirty more seconds. Then you fire.”
The sniper smirked, keeping his crosshairs fixed.
Montez’s glass paused halfway to his lips. His eyes narrowed as he caught sight of something strange. There, just barely visible on Amira’s forehead, was the shimmer of a red dot.
