The walls of the pit were smooth stone, too steep to climb. The pup’s voice was barely there. “Mama… I am sorry… I think I am dying…” Damien pulled me close with the last of his strength. “Stay with me, Elara. Please. I cannot do this without you.” I held him tight, feeling his heartbeat growing weaker. From above, the Devourer’s face appeared at the edge of the pit. Its purple light reached down toward us. “Now,” it hissed, “you are mine.” I closed my eyes and held Damien as tightly as I could.

It could be anyone?” The pit’s color changed from blue to violet Vandross looked at me saying, “Demons should not feel bad to a dying human. They hunt our races down and killed so many of our allies.” “But...” I haven’t finish what I want to say when Vandross suddenly tossed me inside the Pit. The whole place was covered with violet. I can’t see any other color aside from the light at the end of the pit. The moment I reached the end, the light flashed through my eyes and I started to cover my eyes.

More aligned with the First Dark’s original beliefs. “I am Doubt,” it said. Its voice was heavy. Resigned. Certain of failure. “I am the piece that believes nothing is better. That believes existence is suffering. That believes erasure is mercy. And I will prove it. I will experience your precious existence. I will feel your claimed connection. I will understand your supposed meaning. And then I will report that everything you said was lies. Everything you promised was false. Everything you believe is wrong. And the First Dark will erase all existence. Will return everything to perfect peaceful nothing. Will end this failed experiment forever.”

Sebastian nods; it is not exactly what he expects but it's something…Something that will grow into more and that more will be the crack in the case. “If you don't mind, Mr. Parker, I will love for Chester to show me where he saw these people.” Sebastian stands, casting ganders to and fro the father and son, the resemblance suddenly becoming even more striking. While Parker's hair has turned grey, and his brown eyes weak, Chester's was full of life and his hair colour of gold and dirt. The two lead him to the end of the rear side of the house. The farm is bigger than Sebastian had given credit and while it's a mixture of goats, sheep and pigs, the rear is filled with mainly birds.

Asher's POV Staring up at the large casino like building before him Asher steadied his heartbeat as he exited a taxi. Lights lit its 20 story walls, flashing from different shades of red, blue, and green. The words 'La Fiet' glowed golden above the double door entrance where a man clad in all black stood checking ID'S of patrons. The place seemed as grandiose as he had heard and immediately all he could think was, what am I even doing here?
