10 years later… 10 years later… The Winter Hill estate is asleep, but I’m very much awake, which is not a good thing for my sanity. The night outside looks like it came straight out of a horror movie—black as ink, cold enough to freeze your soul, and eerily quiet. Even the wind is whispering ominous nonsense. My thin sweater is doing as much against the cold as a wet tissue would against a fire, but hey, fashion over functionality, right? I bolt.

On the outskirts of the town, a secluded abandoned warehouse stood. The insects created a symphony of sounds, filling the darkness with their unique calls and chirps. The chirping of crickets adds to the strangeness of the area. The weathered exterior of the warehouse marked by the ravages of time, conceals a clandestine underworld thriving within its walls. Behind the facade of neglect and abandonment, secretive meetings unfold within dimly lit chambers, where whispered conversations echo off the cold, concrete walls. The scent of cigar smoke hangs heavy in the air, mingling with the tension that permeates the space.

Suddenly, the entire room goes dark. By dark, I don’t mean the kind of darkness you’ll get when you turn off all the lights. It’s the kind of darkness that you’d get when all the lights in the world would get turned off. It’s a complete pitch black, thick and opaque and would have been impossible to achieve given that the sun is starting to shine outside and fill the entire room with light. But it did happen. It is happening. The world around me is submerged in black I fumble around to touch either August or Anais—just an anchor that would keep me pinned in reality—and assure myself that I’m not alone, but my hand comes into contact with nothing, not even the wall.

Lawrence dropped the Tupperware and wobbled away. "Wait!" Kat called out, preparing to chase after her. However, it was at that exact moment that their surroundings went dark. The bright summer sky outside turned gloomy gray, the colorful paint marks on the floor devoid of any vivid tint. Slowly, small glowing particles began to appear out of thin air, impossibly weightless. The grayscale filter. The orb of blue lights appearing in a trail. The freezing air. . . . The death of another wicked mortal.

Even the sky outside turned gray-blue and gloomy. ......

Then he started to panic. He looks around but cannot find anything despite the thunder and lightning flashes outside. Everything is jet black, and the only noise coming out of his mouth is a gasp that does not seem like one. The air around him suddenly feels thick and heavy, pressing down on his chest making breathing almost impossible and he can’t see a thing.

"Natalie? Was there a blackout? Why is it so dark in here?" Nicole let out trying to look past her fear, Natalie told her to meet her here but the whole place was already so dark even though it was still pretty bright outside it was only a few minutes past seven pm, why will Natalie ask her to come here when she won't be here? Initially, she had thought she wanted her to come to pick her but when she got to the complex, no one was in sight, she should have called Natalie before she got out of her car, she didn't expect the inside to be this dark and empty, the last time they had come here, there had been a few people here.

Master Chai Kern announced and brought everyone into the grand hall to celebrate the arrival of Drake, his Great-grandson. The day continued with a grand feast, and everyone’s drink glass flowed. The air around me was humid from the earlier rain—but it did nothing to smother the cold rising inside me. My eyes scanned the silent building ahead. The windows were blacked out, the kind of black that wasn’t just from lack of light but design. Someone didn’t want this place seen from the outside. Bad decision.
