Si Anna Marie Lacuesta, ulilang lubos, panganay, bread winner, at tumatayong nanay at tatay sa kanyang tatlong kapatid. Aniya ay bayad daw ng kanyang sebisyo at kung hindi daw niya kukunin ay iisipin nitong may plano sa kanya ang dalaga dahil wala naman daw libre sa mundong ito. Sa inis ay napilitan niyang kinuha ang ibinigay nitong tseke, isa pa ayaw niyang mawalan ng trabaho kaya pikit mata laman niyang tinanggap kahit napakababa ang pagtingin nito sa kanya. Hindi lamang kasi iisang beses na mayroong nangyari sa kanila at hindi rin lang iisa o dadalawa ang tsekeng natanggap niya. Inalok pa siya ng malaking halaga upang layuan daw niya ang kasintahan ng pinsan nito ngunit ang pinakaworst ay ang bilhin nito ang kanyang puso, isip at kaluluwa. Unti unti ay napapamahal siya sa binata ngunit paano niya mababago ang napakababang pagtingin nito sa kanya?
