He manipulated the last boy to go to Mirabel. He had thought that each boy would intimate the others about what Mirabel was doing or planning for them as vengeance for what they had done to her but each boy kept quiet as though they did not want to be the only ones that would be made to eat from the cold dish of vengeance or probably, they were ashamed to admit that a girl had outsmarted them. Whatever the reason, it made Curtis' work easy for him. Sam was a very brilliant boy and knew it. He was also great in drawing and painting.

Gina explained and helped us set up our pottery stand. Crystal excitedly poked her lump of clay. “When Curtis was five, we took a pottery class. He ended up with more clay on his face and hair than the clay robot he was trying to build.” Curtis face palmed while I laughed. “And you remember that?” “I would never forget the good times.” She smiled. “Did I ever tell you about the little girl he used to bully in pre-school? The poor girl’s parents stomped to my house to find the little shit that kept making their girl cry.” She glanced over at Curtis.

"How’s my boy?" Adrian’s voice was thick with emotion, the sound of it foreign to him after years of stifling his feelings. "Good! I drew a picture!" Elias exclaimed, pulling out a crumpled drawing from his backpack. In the backseat, Adrian glanced down at the picture. A crayon family Daddy was tall, Mama was in orange (a prison jumpsuit, perhaps?), and there was Elias with a big smile on his face. The innocence of it tore at Adrian’s heart.

Nova POV. I did get my paper and pencils to draw, and I did a great drawing of daddy Lucifer, along with the horns, the tail and the pitchfork. Maybe it wasn't really him but that's how I'm seeing him today, he's a big evil meanie, punishing me when I did nothing! "Look" I say standing up and showing him my drawing, he take the paper from my hand and look at it, it takes him some time before turning back to me.

Sighing, I went back to my drawing. As I finished drawing the new kid, the pencil was pulled from my hand again. This time when I looked up, Cody looked angry, shit. "Why are you drawing him?" I looked down at the page and did my best to look confused, then looked back up. "Who?" But that apparently wasn't what he wanted to hear because he looked angrier as he pointed to the new kid, not on the paper but full-out pointed to him, so he knew we were talking about him. This was Margot's first time receiving a piggyback from Curtis. She was extremely pleased. She pretended to be clueless as she replied, "What do you mean by fulfilling my promise?" "Stop playing dumb. Believe it or not, I'll throw you into that pond over there and feed you to the fish." She stuck her tongue out. "I'm not scared," she retorted. Curtis was pissed. He started walking toward the direction of the pond while carrying her. The further they went, the darker their surroundings became.

They didn’t look like they were having the time of their lives, frankly. “Not today.” She jumped up, scrambled over to the marble coffee table, and grabbed a sheet of paper from the pile. “I drew her a picture. It’s me and Bertha making cookies. Can you take it to her?” Someone out there might have been able to say no to that face, but he sure couldn’t. He took the picture, two stick figures playing with something that looked like dog doo-doo. Didn’t look like the kid had inherited her mother’s art genes.

Of course he did. The meeting began. Curtis’s manager spread out a few documents on the desk, going over the video’s theme and logistics. Curtis explained what he wanted, the artwork as a centerpiece for one of his main scenes, something symbolic and eye-catching. I listened carefully, jotting notes as he talked. I was focused, but every now and then, my thoughts drifted. I wondered if Andre had gotten anything substantial from his investigation. Probably. Since he's been busy. At one point, Curtis leaned back and looked at me directly. “You look like you were expecting someone else.”
