At her feet, there were four books. All written by Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice. Sense and sensibility. Persuasion. Emma. She had another book open in her hands, and when she looked up at me, flashing me a smile that showed off her perfect pearly white teeth, my heart skipped. She was angelic. For a moment, I didn't move. Couldn't. I didn't speak either – just stood there gawking at the beauty of her. She must have thought I was awkward.

I still didn't know where to put my arms and I held them locked against my body for a long while, until they started to get stiff. About half an hour into our journey, I grabbed my book that I put under my jacket earlier and opened the first page. I had seen the movie Pride and Prejudice countless times and the familiar names put a smile to my face. This was the first time I read the book, so I shut the world around me out and started my mental journey.

She always looks so forlorn even when she has a smile on her face and for a beautiful woman like herself - happiness is all she needs to feel. "Aren't you busy or something? I shouldn't bother you." She says. "I called you so you're not bothering me." I lean back in my chair. "What are you doing right now?" "Reading." She replies. "Want me to tell you the title?" "Yes." "Pride and Prejudice." "What's it about?" I ask. "I've watched the movie but somehow, I think they left out a lot of details." I listen to her as she explains what the book is all about and I close my eyes just listening to her voice which calms me. "Okay, see you later." Love was tricky. It made you wonder why a lot of things were possible. It makes you feel like a scam. All these thoughts are coming from me reading one of the books Nia had brought; Pride and Prejudice. I had never been in love and secretly, I wondered what it would feel like. I heard footsteps coming closer, I placed the book behind me, hoping I wouldn't be asked to take my hands off my back. "Get your stuff, I have been ordered by the Alpha himself to get you out of here and to your chamber."

He was not lonely because of pride; he was conditioned to believe vulnerability was weakness."

Since then, he hasn't sent another one or even tried calling. I started packing my things into my suit bag to leave work for today. Corby was right. I do need a break and the best way to spend that, is by seating at home by the window, with a mug of coffee in my hand, while I read my favourite book. Pride and prejudice. The book helps me get away from my own life of loneliness and misery. Knowing Elizabeth Bennet and Darcy went through a lot with love, makes me feel at ease. Even though they did end up together, I'm not sure that, that part would apply to my life.

I mentally made a note of it. I kept studying for awhile trying to keep my thoughts at bay and once I was done with it, it was only 7 am. I still had time to kill and he was sleeping soundly. I've read it at least ten times and it never fails to take me to another place. And, no matter where I begin, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet eventually end up together and live happily ever after.
