I relaxed for a few minutes before washing my body. After about twenty minutes, I got out of the tub and wrapped the large plush towel on the counter around my waist. I then grabbed my toiletry bag and headed into the bedroom. I dried my body and changed into the clothes at the end of the bed. There was a pair of pink terry cloth shorts with ‘Bride’ written across the butt in white and a white t-shirt with the same word written across the front in pink. As well as underwear. On the floor was a pair of pink and white flip-flops.

Small gestures that suggested physical presence and connection. By the end of the meal, everyone had noticed that something was different about Adrian and Eli's dynamic. No one said anything directly. But the shift in energy was undeniable. After dinner, as we were leaving, Eli suggested we go somewhere quieter to debrief about the campaign. Which we both knew was a lie. We both knew he was suggesting we go somewhere private to continue the conversation our bodies were having. We ended up at Eli's apartment. Replacing it at eight thirty on a Friday seemed foolish-and piteous. However, without it to numb her mind, exactly what would she do with the rest of her evening? The thought of reading didn't appeal, and neither did going to bed or staring at her wall.
