Kai licked his lips, briefly glancing at her before looking at their daughter with a smile on his face. “Promise, my love.” Then she looked at her mom who’s watching them, not knowing how to react.

Now, she felt something entirely different. Peace. Power. Freedom. She whispered into the wind, not as a prayer, but as a promise: “I’m still here.” And with that, she turned and walked toward the lights of the city, ready to begin again.

But that had nothing to do with us anymore. Christopher pulled me closer, his chin resting lightly on my head as he whispered, "If we can experience this snowfall together, then the snow in our hair would make it seem as if we've grown old together, wouldn't it?"
