The Way He Looked at Me

The Way He Looked at Me

I want to stay close so close that if anyone comes near him, they’d have to go through me first. The realization hits hard. Sharp. Unexpected. I’m protecting him. Protecting Carter. That instinct isn’t new to me. It’s always been part of who I am. Something wired deep inside. But it’s rare. I don’t feel it for just anyone. It usually takes time trust something meaningful. Yet here it is. Now. For him. I inhale slowly, forcing air into my lungs, hoping the breath will clear my head. Instead, it brings something else. Understanding.

Adrien. I always knew that I had to protect Estelle. It was something that was inside me from the first time I saw it. With a certainty that no one could explain, the instinct to protect her from everything and everyone was as natural to me as breathing. In fact, things were simpler when I believed she was only human. When I had the absurd certainty that she would never have to face any danger. She could make my pack respect her. I could watch that no one approached with intentions to harm her. And although I could not always take care of her as I should, no one could say that I did not try with all my might.

Married to the Ruthless Alpha

Married to the Ruthless Alpha

"They did something that triggered her wolf to feel threatened and took over her He looked at his wife once more, unable to help but tighten his hold on the light body in his arms, and felt the sudden urge to protect her even more. Her limbs were slender, soft, and cold. How could this be the same person who had given the fearsome Beta that gruesome stroke? "A form of self-defense when someone feels threatened," Rosemary said quietly, nodding in agreement to Dave. Then she took Clove's hand and held it tightly, as if trying to erase the younger girl's fear. "She's just like the rest of us who will retaliate if we feel our safety is in danger. Our wolves just want to protect ourselves,"

"How can you be sure? Is it your sense of smell, a stronger urge? Better intimacy?" "Can we talk about this later?" "I need clarity, Julian. You know I can't stand being left in the dark." My exhale felt overly dramatic, even to me. "Every wolf has an instinctual awareness, a deep-seated hunger that can overwhelm the beast, driven by an intense desire. There's also a fundamental need to guard against all threats, including humans. Our senses are sharper, but they've dulled from disuse. I wasn't entirely sure the first night we met, but my instincts screamed that I had to keep you safe."

A Baby for the Dragon

A Baby for the Dragon

Circular sconce lights were set up but they were few and far between, doing little to chase away my fears. He pulled the keys from the ignition and I swallowed hard. “You need to relax, Andreena. We can smell your fear. It’ll trigger hunting instincts in those with little control. “Hunting instincts?” I asked, unbuckling my seatbelt. “We’re predators, love. I will protect you but I don’t want to hurt those in my thrall.” His lips ghosted into a smile before his face smoothed out again. “Doesn’t mean that I won’t. You are mine to protect.”

The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow

The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow

I think of the best way to answer his question. "How do I even give an answer to him when I don't have an answer myself?" I think to myself. The truth is far more complicated to understand. There is no bond that ties us together, no mate pull or even fate of the moon, yet how do I explain it? The instinctive need to protect her from harm, like yesterday when the hunters came for her or even the need to protect her from these rogues even now? That instinct still irritates me more than I care to admit.

I'm still surprised at the fact that even after everything she's been through, Menodora didn't turn evil cos what the hell?! The fact that they killed her mother would've been my last straw. Also, I've never seen an Alpha, and pack members as stupid as these ones. We just shifted, await our revenge!

This is very interesting and engaging... it's highly recommended .... this is not just a common story, facing difficulty and even got abandoned by the world the moment you're born is devasting and the fact that she is the choosing one is very well earned... I'm certainly going to red this to the end

The Accidental Werewolf

The Accidental Werewolf

“My wolf…it’s an Alpha’s instinct to protect the weakest members of his pack, and this is our pack now…he couldn’t handle it.” “Do you want your wolf to wake up?” “Not yet,” I lie. “It’s easier for him to stay asleep…he needs to recover.” She pulls her legs up to her chest and wraps her arms around her knees. “Why are some of them so cruel? If it’s an Alpha’s instinct to protect their weak….Why do they hurt them?” I don’t really feel like talking, but it takes my mind off my screaming body for a little while. “The instinct is suppressed in them from a young age…when they show compassion, they’re punished, and by the time they’re grown, they’re just like their elders.”

I had a hard time liking the FL's sarcasm/strong opinions in the first chapters, but she grew on me as I continued reading. The writing is good, and so are the descriptions. Hardly any grammatical errors, and the pacing is fine. Great job author!

Is this book done? I hope there is more, it’s a great book!! I know I shouldn’t but I kind of feel bad that abbadon died. I can’t say he’s a good guy for sure but I kind of feel sorry for him in a way. He did seem to love her in his own way

Bound By The Moon's Curse

When I finished, my palms were slick with sweat. “I don’t trust it,” I said. “And I don’t trust what it makes me feel.” Rhea was quiet for a long moment. “I learned about bonds at the program,” she said finally. My chest tightened. “Some bonds,” she continued, “develop defensive instincts. They protect the host even from things the host doesn’t consciously fear.” “Like what?” “Like emotional threats or destabilizing influences.” That didn’t help. “You’re saying it has a mind of its own.”

Her Three Wicked Mates

Her Three Wicked Mates

My protective nature had kicked in, disregarding the lust oozing off of them both. She was my mate. My first instinct was to protect her against any and all perceived threats. Surely, Kaelen understood that.

Protecting Her

Protecting Her

I replied to an ad for a roommate and when I went for the physical inspection of the apartment and interview, it turned out to be sweet, really gay Evan and we just clicked since then- it’s been a year since and I couldn’t have wished for a better roommate. As I wiped the counter, a prickling sensation crawled up the back of my neck. That uneasy awareness that I’d tried to ignore for days now- like someone was watching me, waiting for me to slip. I shook it off again and told myself it was nerves, stress, maybe even paranoia. I didn’t get to dwell too much on it as I got a few customers and got busy. -----
