Spraying the back seats with shards of glass. For a brief second, I see the old man lean forward between the gap of the front seats. His eyes on me as I slam the Wolf’s head into the car door again. It yelped and pulled it’s paw out of the car, but it didn’t get off of the car. He was still swurving and trying to get the wolf off and away from us but that wasn’t working. The wolf struggled and yelped under Gunner’s hold. “Gunner, kill it!” I screamed. But no, the big dumb lump didn’t kill it. Instead, Gunner took his paw off the wolf and took a few steps back. His silver fur slowly receded back into his skin, and he stood on two human feet with his hands out in front of him in surrender.

Only he never hits me. I watch in what feels like slow motion as I see Max, Carter’s wolf, leap in front of me tackling the wolf to the ground. Max is already bleeding from the wounds he received fighting off the two rogues. I watch the pair tumble to the ground, fierce growls and whimpers as their wolves are attacking and being wounded.
