I'm not sleeping.
I never really sleep.
Sleep is for those who have peace.
Me, I calculate.
Lying in this makeshift bed, between sheets that aren't mine, I soak it in.
I let the fabric, the air, the shadows get used to my presence.
I become familiar. I become normal.
And slowly, I replace.
The house is asleep.
But me, I listen.
The muffled sighs.
The creaking wood above me.
The upstairs where Clara struggles to still exist in a bed that rejects her.
