When I passed by the greenery, a branch suddenly snagged my hair. I tugged slightly, but instead of freeing it, I pulled down a whole spray of petals. A hand suddenly reached out and gently helped untangle my hair. "What the—" I winced inwardly, blaming the overly lush landscaping in these rich neighborhoods. How were there already flowers blooming at this time of the year? "Are these peach blossoms?" I muttered exasperatedly. A calm voice came from above, "They're cherry blossoms."

"They do private events. Spring dates are available." Damien leaned over to look. "April. Cherry blossoms will be blooming." "Is that too soon?" "That's five months. Most people plan for a year." "We're not most people. And we don't need a year to plan a twenty-person wedding." I looked at him. "Unless you want to wait longer?" "No. April sounds perfect." We booked it that afternoon. A small ceremony space near the Japanese garden. Maximum thirty guests. Available the third Saturday in April.

And suddenly something clicked in my mind. The wind had been freezing this morning. Sharp. Brisk enough to bite through jackets.

I will have to make a stop at a certain shop but for now I better wear baggy clothes. I went outside and met George. He greeted me and asked how my health was. “I would like to plant a tree, where do you suggest is the best place?” I asked him. He scratched his head and then peered his eyes as he looked at me, “It depends on the tree you have in mind.” “I want to plant a cherry blossom.” His eyes shot up before they narrowed again, “The cherry blossom also known as the sakura or in its native name senbonzakura. Cherry blossoms are some beautiful and vibrant trees that symbolize the beauty and fragility of life.”
