An Unwanted Fate
I raised my glass to offer a toast.
“I’m not good with words. And Goddess knows I don’t deserve a mate as beautiful and wonderful as you. But you make me want to be better, to do better. And I want you to know that even if you choose not to accept our bond, I will still never stop trying to be the man you deserve.” I chuckled humorlessly at myself, shaking my head. “Like I said, I’m not good with words, so I’ll use someone else’s . . . I lost my way all the way to you, and in you I found my way.” And with that, I clinked my glass to hers.
“Atticus.” She whispered, referencing the source of my quote. A lone tear rolled down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away.
