“Tell me it's not true! Dad, please,” she cried out, reaching for her left shoulder. Yanking down her shirt, she looked down at her shoulder as if searching for something. She could barely see anything and she stood up, trying to make her way toward the dressing table.
Jacob pulled her into an embrace, holding on to her tightly as she struggled to get out of it. “Honey, please,” he said, trying to sound assuring but his voice broke midway and he knew he had ended up confirming her fears, “calm down.”
