"You are the bridge, Kyla. The shadow creatures have been severing the ties between the earth and the sky, but you... you are the knot that holds it all together." She reached out, taking my glowing hands in hers. The moment our skin touched, a jolt of energy surged between us, and the honey lake began to swirl in a massive, slow vortex. The other fairies—the nymphs and the dryads who had been lost in their sensual games—suddenly stopped. One by one, they turned toward me, their playful laughter dying out as they dropped to their knees in the golden liquid. The twins I had seen earlier, their bodies slick and intertwined, looked at me with an expression of pure awe.

* Even her mindlink voice was tiny and sweet, filling me with a sense of wonder. *Oh ok, let's go get coffee and breakfast,* I said, feeling famished, and she flew to my shoulder, holding onto my hair with her tiny hands, tucking her wings down behind her. She was like a Fairy Firefly, her tiny body, only three inches tall, she glowed bright white, with eyes the same color as her wings, gold, like those of a dragonfly. When she fluttered, golden sparkles like glitter came from her body, making everyone around her feel happy and uplifted, with a hint of delight.

She took in a deep breath, feeling the calming scent of nature, the chirping birds flying over the trees and the sound of the fountain water gushing into the Lake. She noticed a tiny glow floating in the air- towards a Cave just a few feet away. And suddenly, from the flowers and plants tickling their feet, a thousand fireflies emerged. Faye gasped, watching them dance in the air like tiny lamps. From the Cave ahead, a thousand more- of different colors- joined in. Faye let out a chuckle when they surrounded her, and Emris froze. Did she just laugh? "Emris!" Faye called, her voice holding an excitement he didn't think she had in her.

“Just ahead in the clearing. There is a scared waterfall that allows one to heal their mind if they are in need of it.” Norris explained to me. Leaving them behind, I blocked out their thoughts, putting up a barrier between us and the world. Athena went into the clearing. The waterfall twinkled from the sunlight that seemed to dance on its surface. It was like thousands of diamonds in the water. The rocks that surrounded the waterfall were littered with flowers. It looked like a rainbow. The water was clear, even though it looked deep. Athena entered the water. We felt a tingling coursing through our body as we went further into the water. She swam around as whatever magic was held in the wa

Caitlin said, laughing as they raced downhill. “Don’t worry,” Polly said, out of breath, running beside her, “I have one for you.” “What about me?” Scarlet chimed in. “I want one, too!” Ruth barked. “And so does Ruth!” Polly laughed. They soon reached the edge of the lake and all came to a stop by its shore, out of breath, Scarlet still laughing. Caitlin looked down at the water and marveled at its light-blue, crystal-clear color: she could see right through to the bottom, and saw it was lined with thousands of smooth, multi-colored rocks. The place truly looked magical.

She didn’t know the official name, but she’d dubbed them rainbow flowers. She needed to face it. She was falling hard and fast for the two shifters. While she’d been skeptical of Brecc, his personality reminded her somewhat of her own. He’d been emotionally lonely and she knew exactly how that felt. The flapping of something in the air made her glance up. She cursed when she saw a giant purple dragon swoop down. It came down fast. The dragon curled claws around her and took off so fast she didn’t get a chance to really make out what was going on. Glancing through the claws, she saw Brecc and Eros shift into white wolves and chase after the dragon that had her in its claws.

“Fuck you, Nyx.” “Oh, hush. You were always so dramatic.” Something flickers beside me. A shape that I recognize. Small and white, fading in and out of existence like rapid pulses. “Bubbles?” I whisper. The rabbit flickers into full form for a breath, her ears flattened, fur standing on end, eyes glowing faintly gold. Then she vanishes again. Nyxara rolls her eyes. “Oh, for the love of the old gods, stay still, sister. You’re giving me a headache.”
