What the hell were they talking about? “I swear I don’t know anything,” I whispered desperately. “I don’t even know who Ravens is.” One of the men barked out a laugh. “Damn. She really clueless.” “Not our fucking problem,” another muttered. The gun pressed harder into my skin and my breathing immediately turned shaky again. “You hear that, Ravens?” the man said into the phone. “Fourteen hours before we paint the floor with her brains.”

Like she was a monster. “I didn’t mean to,” Raven sobbed into my shoulder. Her tears soaked through my shirt. “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone! I just wanted Daddy to wake up!” My throat was too tight to speak. I stroked Raven’s hair with trembling fingers. Her purple hair felt soft and warm under my hand. Movement in the corner caught my eye. Darein. The traitor was stumbling toward the hole in the wall. Blood dripped from a wound on his head. He looked back once, his eyes meeting mine.

Cassidy waved me over, moving her bag so I could sit. I chuckled and nodded as I took the seat next to her. “Hi. I’m Riko Shiraishi,” I introduced myself. “I know. I remember my first day at Ravenwood. Its hell being the new kid,” she assured. “When did you transfer to Ravenwood?” I asked. “A couple of years ago. Things never change in how they treat the new kids, well how they treat the new girls,” she frowned.

Jacob reassured him confidently. "Half of the men you appointed for this mission are already dead," Raven pointed out skeptically. "I don't trust you, Jacob. Remember, I was the one who revived you. You serve me, and if you fail to deliver what I want, I will not hesitate to kill you." Jacob's eyes flashed with a murderous intent but quickly returned to a calm demeanor. He nodded in acknowledgment. Raven then left the room, and unfortunately, Rick had to move away swiftly to avoid being caught spying on their conversation so that I couldn't get a clear view of Raven's

I watch the door open, Bear, Hawk and Doc walking in and sitting. “Take a look.” I watch as Grayson holds out the box and envelope. Why is he showing them? I stare at him. “Raven’s past is coming back, it’s someone who likes to kill those she is close to. So we’re calling in everyone, if we’re not with her, we need at least three more guys watching her closely.” “You said those she is close to?” Doc looks at us and we nod. “Yes, that includes Ava, so if we’re not going to be with Ava, we need more people around her.” I won’t let Grayson pretend like Ava isn’t a target.

Raven DeLuca said and tilted his head. He's always impatient. For me, Raven is the most troublesome member of Nexus. He kills people for enjoyment. He enjoys killing people; he's often called "Nexus’ psychopath" by other underground organizations. For him, seeing the blood of the people he kills is entertaining.
