Raven looked around the room—at the fear in the eyes of warriors and Alphas who had faced a thousand battles but didn’t know how to fight what was coming. “We prepare,” she said. And she meant it. That afternoon, she returned to the Archives with Kade and Maya. The carved doors groaned as they opened, revealing the still-glowing murals on the walls. This time, Raven didn’t hesitate. She walked to the third mural—the one partially hidden in shadow. The Forgotten Queen. She stared at the image: a woman with silver hair, blood on her hands, and eyes that burned with moonlight. Around her neck was the same crescent mark Raven bore.

It was her first time speaking that much in class, and now every pair of eyes was on her. The lecturer hesitated, then cleared his throat. “Alright. For your assignment, write extensively on the significance of the ravens.” He smiled faintly. “Meanwhile, you can visit the school museum. There’s a portrait of Queen Elara- the one Monk Alphonso drew. It’s said her beauty was beyond words.” He picked up his notes and paused just before leaving. “Legend says, in the eyes of the Queen, only can the Raven King be restored.” Liana’s head tilted. “In the eyes of the Queen…” she repeated under her breath.

Raven could see through the rain as the gentle, golden lights in their eyes and a brutal, hungry red was replaced. The Alpha queen had claimed her kingdom. Vesper looked over to Raven. Leo walked to the map on the wall and marked a location. “This confirms it. Arthur had loose ends. They cleaned him up before he could talk more. Vincent Serrano is next if we do not move him immediately. Elvira is under house arrest, but she is still a Calder. She knows things, too. She might be in danger, or she might be part of this Order.” Leo turned to Theron. “And the message mentioned a Queen. They are referring to Raven. She is the bloodline. She is the key. She is the most valuable asset in this entire game.”

“What… does that mean? You said--” The woman reached for her hood, and my heart lurched. The face that had looked at me in that hazy dream when I was in the cave was looking at me. Her face looked so much like my mother’s in the painting, but there were several differences that told me that she wasn’t. She was a relative of some sort. “Who… are you?’ “If you’d like the formality, I am Raven, the second princess of the United Vampire Covens.” She said with a small smirk. “I am also the true leader of the Blood Moon Coven, more commonly known as the Red Moon Pack.”
