I hate early morning alarms! Especially the 5 O'clock ones I set for myself so I can wake up on time for school. They always ring every time I'm just getting very snuggly under my bedcovers and enjoying the second round of tranquil sleep. It doesn't help that I always read a book when I'm supposed to be in bed. Yeah, I'm a nerd and I know it. I bet you are too, ha ha.

I was home, I was surrounded by friends, and I was ready to embrace whatever the future held. As I lay sprawled on my bed later that day, the afternoon sunlight streaming through the curtains and casting a warm glow over my room, I tried to focus on the book in my hands. The words on the page danced and blurred together, refusing to stick in my tired brain. I sighed, closing my eyes for a moment, feeling the gentle hum of the house around me. The rhythmic ticking of the clock on my nightstand was oddly soothing, and I felt myself drifting, caught in that pleasant limbo between wakefulness and sleep.
