It was just me once again and I stood immediately to head for my bed. I went beneath the blanket as I laid on my back and made sure I was fully covered. The sleep didn’t come easy though so I just stared up at the ceiling.. Still think about mysterious but alluring Jenny and why I couldn't easily read like I could for other people. I sighed and closed my eyes when I realized that thinking about her like this wouldn’t help me sleep early so I massaged my temple with my forefingers, hoping it would help me relax. It did help me relax but I still couldn’t sleep and when I checked the time on my phone, it was already a few minutes to 1:00 am.

Heyyy it's literally 3am here and I just woke up from a nightmare. Can't get back to sleep so I figured I'd work on this chapter instead. What time is it where you're reading this? Sometimes I wonder if anyone else is up at these weird hours reading while the rest of the world is asleep. Anyway, back to trying to calm my brain down enough to sleep... or maybe I'll just keep writing till sunrise. We'll see! 😴

Time for "old faithful." I pulled out some scriptures Ruthie, my best friend, gave me. I had a bookmark in Genesis Four. That's where I'd stopped the last time I needed help falling asleep. Yes, I was a scripture-reading teenager. However, my motivation wasn't to get all spiritual - it was to get so bored, I would fall asleep. It was a tip from Ruthie - whose parents were super righteous. Ruthie called the scriptures her insomnia cure - a biblical miracle! Ha! Fortunately, it worked for me, too. I cracked the book open to Genesis Four.

Maybe, just maybe, she'll help me find the freedom I’ve been craving. As I lay in bed, my hands and feet crossed, staring up at the ceiling, I was too excited to even think about falling asleep. The anticipation of seeing Mia tomorrow kept me wide awake. I decided to try calming my restless mind with some soft instrumental music, hoping it would help me drift off. After a few minutes, the soothing melodies began to settle my thoughts, and soon, I felt my eyelids grow heavy. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep, the music still playing softly in my ears, the headphones still in place, as I slipped into a peaceful, dream-filled rest.

Curled in Colton’s arms in bed, my head laid on his chest as I listen to that steady rhythm of his heartbeat, I doze in and out of peaceful and contented slumber. Something keeps waking me when I start to fall deeply, and I can’t seem to put my finger on it. Like a dream or a feeling that’s just out of sight and seems to jump in to haul me back whenever my consciousness drifts away. An unease or a threatening nightmare maybe, it’s definitely a sense of unease and try as I might, I can’t seem to fall into blissful darkness for any length of time. It’s almost dawn and I have barely dozed for more than twenty-minute slots at a time. I’m frustrated and exhausted, yet I can’t seem to rest.

I needed some sort of comfort my plan was to head to the shower take a really nice long shower and head back to my bed, pick up my Bible and read till I slept off base my strength on God so I can really meet the sleep, because at this point if I didn't sleep or close my eyes I was definitely going to look like I got punched in the face than 10,000 times I hadn't slept like forever I know I slept for some days but after having to be attentive and my brain having to be a sharp receptor I needed to rest it so I could think straight because I knew definitely there were things I was not seeing my mind kept telling me there was something I had missed so until then I needed to find sleep.
