Suddenly Tiara remembered two books that she borrowed from the library yesterday. She hasn’t read it yet. Then, the girl walked up the stairs and into the room. Her tiny hand grabbed two thick books from a wooden shelf and placed them on the study table. She turned on the reading light. Then Tiara took the first book. The book with a thickness of about ten centimeters has beautiful carvings on the outside. She began reading word for word on the first sheet of the book.

His tanned skin contrasted with his orange shirt. "Good morning, Ma'am. You look so beautiful in the morning." His eyes almost disappeared because of his wide smile. "Morning." I smiled a bit. I went to the bench and sat there. I opened the book that I found at the library. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I glanced at Sandro when he sat beside me. I just smiled at him before dropping my gaze on the book. "I did not know that you love reading," he commented. "Yup," I responded, eyes remained on the book.

I insisted. Silence fell between us. He looked back at the book. Then at me. Then back at the book again. “You’ve been reading it?” he asked. “Yes.” “How far?” “I don’t know… halfway, I think.” “And what is it about?” he asked. “It’s about a boy,” I said slowly. He didn’t interrupt. “They threw him into a well,” I continued. “Left him there to die.” Drake’s grip on the book tightened slightly. “He didn’t die,” I added.

The ache in my heart turns to butterflies in my belly. There’s a rickety stool outside the den with a book sitting on it, a paperback that’s gotten soaked and dried at least once, opened like a fan. A bookmark made of braided grass is tucked between the pages. He reads? What is he reading? My wolf can’t read. All she can do to satisfy my curiosity is sniff the pages. They smell like they’ve been dew-dampened and baked in the sunshine many, many times. She bumps it off the chair with her enthusiasm, and Justus rescues it from the ground.

Ashley's POV I walked over to the reading corner in the orphanage and picked up a brightly colored picture book. Its pages were filled with cute animals and simple drawings—the kind of content the kids could easily follow. I lowered myself onto the floor on the other side of the group. "Hey, kids," I said softly, a smile warming my voice. A few of them turned toward me. I opened the book and began reading in a relaxed, natural tone. Kai and Conri sat on either side, put a hand on her, and started reading. Misty sat across from them in an accent chair with one of the books Thea’s father brought home. The three girls sat on the floor at Thea’s feet. “When we learn how to read, we could help you with this too, right?” Cassandra said. “Yes,” Thea said. “Absolutely.” “It’s important?” Cassandra said. “Yes,” Thea said. “Okay,” Conri said after a moment. “This book is impossible to read. It’s written in Old English or something.”

Theo, his eyelids drooping with sleep, snuggled closer to Hazel, his tiny hand clutching hers. “Mama Hazel,” he mumbled, his voice barely a whisper, “can we read a story?” Hazel smiled, her heart melting at his request. She carried him to the living room, settling him on the plush rug in front of the fireplace. The crackling fire cast dancing shadows on the walls, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. She pulled out a well-worn book from the bookshelf, its pages filled with colorful illustrations and whimsical tales. It was a book they had read countless times, but each time, it held a new magic, a new wonder for Theo.

She loved this book because the characters intrigued her, most specifically the main protagonist, Liesel.
