She turned and began walking again, and this time, we followed her deeper into the structure until we reached a part of the manor that felt entirely different. It was the library and the moment we stepped inside, I slowed. This place was massive. Shelves stretched high, far higher than I expected, filled completely with books of different sizes, colours, and conditions. Some looked ancient, their covers worn and faded, while others appeared newer but probably no less important. But before I could express my awe at what I was seeing, Sera brought me out of my thoughts. “This,” Sera said, glancing back at me, “is where you’ll begin.”

Her bright eyes dance around until she huffs out a breath of relief. “Okay…” she whispers, and the angst in her voice is palpable. “Where do we start?” The afternoon slips away from us. Every minute that passes the sun provides less and less light. Without a lamp, we won’t be able to do much more. The books we managed to find are scattered around us in piles. Rebecca reaches into my backpack and pulls out a wrapped corn muffin. “How are you not starving?” she mutters, relaxing against the filing cabinet behind her.

Chapter 2: First Sparks of Heat Rebecca arrived at the institute early the next morning. Her heart beat fast as she walked down the quiet hall to room three. She wore a loose top and soft pants like Liam had suggested. Comfortable clothes for movement. Last night she tried the breathing exercises alone in bed. Her fingers had brushed her breasts and neck. A tiny warmth had appeared between her legs. It was small but new. She wanted more today. She knocked on the door. "Come in," Liam called.

Rebecca’s POV "Yes, I am pregnant." Staring at the two bold lines on each of the seven pregnancy test strips on the table, I muttered to myself. After battling constant episodes of nausea and vertigo for the previous three days, I made the decision to take an exam this morning. My heart leaped with joy as I scanned each of the strips for the umpteenth time this morning to make sure that I was seeing right. and that I wasn't experiencing those kinds of dreams once more.

ANASTASIA'S POV “So where did you disappear to yesterday?” Arissa asked, one brow arched, a slow smirk tugging at her lips as I scanned through the science section of the Stormborn Library. I froze mid-reach, fingers hovering over a thick book on wolf biology. “Yeah, I’d like to know too,” Clara added, grinning with just as much mischief. I could practically FEEL my face burst into flames. I snatched the book off the shelf and began flipping through the thick pages, keeping my eyes glued on it like it was suddenly the most fascinating thing in the world. “I didn’t disappear,” I muttered weakly, still flipping.

Then Rebecca noticed something written on the last page of the children's book. It wasn't Claire's handwriting. It wasn't Daniel's. The ink was fresh. Only a few years old. The message read: If you're reading this, I'm already gone. Don't look for me. They'll only follow you. Signed with a single initial. D. Rebecca closed the book gently. For the first time, she didn't believe Daniel Cross was dead. She believed he was still running. And that somewhere... He already knew they had found Claire's room.

And then there was my beautiful Rebecca. Rebecca looked just like her mom when Angie was her age. She was a dancer, and kept her body firm and in shape. She was stunningly beautiful, like a Hollywood starlet, but also carried herself in such a way as to almost be the hidden gem in the library...covered up in a too-big sweatshirt and glasses, head in a book. I loved Rebecca with all my heart and was so proud of the woman she was becoming. However, on this trip, seeing her alongside her friends by the pool, she was no longer a hidden gem. She knocked the other two out of the park with the way she could rock her outfits and slips and bikinis. She had a new look each day, each somehow more stunn

Scarlett The packhouse cells were filled with a chilling silence as I made my way back to Rebecca’s cell. My steps were deliberate, my intentions clear and focused. Finn’s protective instincts had been subdued, but my desire for revenge was sharp and exact. I unlocked the cell door with deliberate movements. Rebecca’s screams echoed off the cold, unyielding walls of her cell, creating a symphony of anguish in my ears. She was shackled to a chair in the center of the damp room, her frail body trembling. Her once haughty demeanor had vanished, replaced by raw, unfiltered fear. It was a poetic sight to see the predator become the prey.

Rebecca Rebecca climbed out of her car. The pub was packed with people because it was two dollar beer night. Thursday night was college night, and all the University of Houston students enjoyed a release. She remembered all too well having many Thursday nights at Barney’s. She pulled her coat tighter and walked toward the front door, a nagging sensation about Parker’s warning eating at her. She didn’t want to text Jason. It seemed like a controlling, silly thing to do.

The book was about humans and the mermaid, a fictional book and hence, this might be the reason why Rebecca knew of her. She must to be that famous for her to publish all the series in a year, I love seeing ladies achieve their dreams really. It always makes me happy. I lost count of the time, totally engrossed in reading until I heard the key jingling and the door was opened. Another maid entered, with a tray and a water jug in her left hand.
