The room held everything he had said in it, the rebirth, the wolf, the mate bond, the word Lycan offered plainly like a fact that didn't need dressing up because facts didn't. I sat very still. Not frozen. Not the stillness of someone overwhelmed. The deliberate stillness of a woman choosing not to move while she took inventory of what she actually felt, because reacting before you understood what you were reacting to was how you ended up in a chair with a rope around your wrists.
