"Natalie, why don't I give the necklace back to you? I shouldn't have accepted it in the first place." The moment her hand touched the necklace, Hunter spoke. "Keep it." Then, he turned to me and stressed, "Whoever drew it got it." I chuckled softly. The private room fell silent for a moment, and Hunter's gaze grew colder. Gabriel frowned and said, "Natalie, it was just a game. Did you really have to make an issue out of it?" Then, he stepped in front of Tiffany. His voice remained gentle, but to me, it felt like a knife pressing against my throat.

"There are wanted posters all over the city. How long do you think you can hide?" Corbin blinked, then pulled a small bottle from his pocket and waved it in front of me. "That's exactly why we have to move fast." The liquid inside was clear. My stomach plummeted. "What are you doing?" His smile widened, and the madness behind it was no longer something he could contain. "Gage, have you ever wondered what acid feels like on your face?" My eyes went wide. I shot to my feet and tried to back away, but he was faster. He twisted the cap off and flung the contents at me. In that split second, someone came hurtling out of nowhere and yanked me clear.

I tell Carla to pour some more water in the glass and she does so. Ten. Nine. Eight. I sip the water as I look at Troy with a smirk and he rolls his eyes.
