The room was like a prison, but with a mahogany bedroom set and Egyptian cotton sheets. Feeling hopeless, Lacee went into the bathroom and splashed her face with water from the faucet. She looked up at her image in the mirror; her hair was a mess and her face looked worn out. It appeared she’d already lost the fight. A knock on the door alarmed her, and she debated on breaking the glass mirror to use as a weapon. “Lacee, it’s me, Rinc.” The Alpha said from the other side of the door. “I’m going to come in now, I promise we are not going to hurt you, but don’t try anything stupid.”

She said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I stood there not knowing what to reply, no excuse would be enough. I could never win against her. Maybe the heavens had heard my prayer and sent an angel to come rescue me. “Stop berating the child, Anna” The voice came, I snapped my head to see who the angel was and it was my grandpa. I rushed towards him and gave him a big hug. Maybe it was the weight of everything that had happened the past few days, but I couldn't take it anymore I broke down in tears, clinging to my safe space.

I bit back a chuckle as I grabbed the orders from his sweaty palm. "See you at the training field, six in the morning sharp tomorrow." I put on my game face. "My trainees don't do late." His eyes sparkled, hope written all over his face. However, just when things were looking up, trouble hit. Deep into one night at the office, crunching flight data, my phone went berserk. An encrypted call. "Ms. Larson, we've got a code red." The voice was all business. "Everett's busted out."

"Mom, what did that ungrateful bastard say to you? She used a kindness as leverage, slandered Lily, and even declared in front of the cameras that she wanted to sever ties with us. It's a good thing that Lily taught her a lesson! That way, she'll stop causing trouble all the time!" Grandma's right hand, which was holding the phone, began to tremble. She frowned, unable to understand what on earth was happening. "Is this what you mean by Lily teaching Laura a lesson? Laura's right arm is fractured, and there's a hole in her head! If I hadn't rushed back after seeing the news about the fire, she might have died on the pavement!"

His hair was neatly cut, and his defined cheekbones and concrete jaw stood out while he chewed his food. “Auxel Ryder Gallego.” My gaze was drawn to the other guy next to Carter; he looks so fine with his scythe-shaped brows and sea rover-blue eyes that are noticeable even from a distance.

Laila replied. The robot starts blinking, “Wrong voice code, wrong voice code”. It doesn’t recognize Michael and Grace's voices. “It’s my fellow people’s voice”,Mr Wellington said. “Are you in danger?”The robot asked. “No, I am not in danger. Go to the third office by your right and bring the bag on the table”,Mr Wellington commanded.

This was the first time a boy had ever approached her and talked to her without being afraid of her, so she didn't hesitate to give a shake hand, 'My name is Allison', replied the girl with a very coarse voice and a beautiful smile. Ben smiled again, not minding the coarse voice. A small bell rang, and it was time for breakfast. A group of server bots rushed out of a door and every server bot went to a table. Server bots were humanoid bots, all with the same appearance of a handsome man with a server attire. 'May I know what you want for breakfast?', asked the bot politely, seeing Ben and Allison were the only people in its table.

He had thought her mad, but now he knew the truth, and so did Adrian. “Adrian, I didn’t believe you at first. These books though, they are amazing! I…I’m actually speechless!” Robert told Adrian and Adrian sighed with relief. Finally, somebody that he knew would understand and maybe he could even get Robert to join his cause and clean this town up. “Look, Adrian, I have to get going though, I’m supposed to pick Shelley up in ten minutes,” Robert said to Adrian. They shook hands and Robert promised to listen to everything Adrian would still tell him when they were on shift again, in four days’ time.

"That… That was my fault, Eleanor. I've changed. I've thought it all through. I was wrong before. Just give me a chance. Please." I'd heard enough of his excuses. I tried to pry his hand off, but his grip was surprisingly tight. Just as I struggled to break free, a figure stepped in, his large hand pulling Rafael's grip off my arm. "Excuse me, who are you? This is a civilized country. Drop the violence." I recognized him immediately—Caleb Thatcher, a Valmeran student from the same lab. He was a year older and had always looked out for me. I never expected he'd step in like this.

But one thing caught my eye – a countdown timer, ticking away with ominous slowness. 3...2...1... A voice spoke to us, calm and gentle. "I can help you," it said. I turned to see an hologram, an AI designed to assist humans. But there was something different about her, something that made me trust her. Her eyes seemed kind, her smile warm and genuine. "Who are you?" Ethan asked, his eyes narrowing. "I'm Ada," she replied. "Together, we can stop Erebus and save your parents." I felt a spark of hope ignite within me. Could this AI be the key to our salvation?
