Her aunt gives her a small smile and nods, Celine finds the bookmark and opens to the page. The woven bookmark has a faded blue tassel and was made of woven threads depicting wolves running in a forest, at the bottom of the bookmark was an old wolf’s tooth with a hole drilled through to be able to tie it onto the bookmark. She puts it to one side to look at the page it had been marking. It looked much like many of the others she had seen flipping through. But its words had her feeling like her world was slipping through her fingers and she was unable to do anything to stop it.

Recognition. Ember felt it at first, the scenery vibrating through her like a plucked string. Suddenly, I was back in the Emberclaw library, three weeks ago, the clock reading two in the morning. I was reaching for a book behind a locked case, a book I had absolutely no business touching. The lock was simple enough, but the contents? Not so much.

I looked at Wyatt, who was appraising me with narrowed eyes. “What? She forgets I can smell her all over the books and I know what ones are naughty, because well ya know,” I leaned over and tossed him a book from the pile. I had started reading the backs of things so I purposely incorporated a little spice in her life. He looked at the title, then skimmed the back of the book, it was some mafia romance. His brows raised, I shrugged.

"Look, it's okay to admit you're not okay. This school messes with everyone. You're not alone, and you're certainly not being judged." Ignoring her comforting words, I march past her towards my closet. In haste, I rummage through my clothes until my hand clasps around 'it'—the red book I'd stolen from Artemis's room during my first awakening. "Here," I say, tossing the book her way. Her wolf-like reflexes snap into action, catching the book effortlessly. She studies its intricate design, her fingers tracing the worn leather before she opens it and flips through its ancient pages. "What's this?"

There was nothing. I skimmed the entire section and even moved to the area dealing with ancient rituals and power restoration, but nothing specifically addressed Moonwhisperers. It was all about Sigma Wolves and other lesser gifts. Sighing, I decided to give up. As I turned to leave, my eyes caught a dusty, fragile book with only five pages. The title, written in faded gold lettering, read: Restoration of the Melody. I carried it back to my seat. The book was filled with dense, cryptic text and many ancient symbols that stood alone and made little sense at first. Somehow, though, I was able to read most of them.

I'll make sure to not mess this up again. We said our goodbyes and I returned to my laptop. I took a good look at it and then I deleted all of my work. I feel like a second chance needs a second start. I'll rewrite the whole thing. A complete new plot and storyline and everything. She gave me three months so I have enough time for this.
