"No," Margaret said firmly. "We talk about it now. Who was on that phone?"
Richard's hands were shaking. His mind was racing, trying to come up with a lie that would satisfy her. That would make her stop asking questions.
"I... it was... just leave it alone," he finally said, his voice rising with desperation. "Just leave it alone, Margaret. Go to bed. Stop asking questions."
He pushed past her, heading for the door.
"Richard Sterling, you stop right there," Margaret called after him.
