<3 Unrelated: As this is a series, I already have book 2 and 3 planned... But how would people feel about a prequel at some point? Explaining the whole story of Harley’s mother's relationship with Alexander and what led to everything that happened before Harley contacts Ron for the first time? so basically Connie and Alexander falling in love, marrying, Connie's affair with Ron, the fall out, etcetc. The entire backstory! Let me know in the comments if the idea of a prequel sounds interesting!!

I didn't want to go all out with the decorations, but I couldn't help myself. I heard the door ring as soon as I lit the last candle. I quickly rushed towards the door, undone my braids, played with them through my fingers, and felt some damp areas. I opened the door, and I sucked in my breath. Liam stood there looking like fucking Robert Sheehan - he's from Mortal Engine and that new show on N*****x. He looks like him but with muscle and more handsome. I became a fan of Robert Sheehan when I watched Mortal Engine on bootleg. Super cute.

Maybe it was because she grew up with three brothers, and she considered herself to be one of the boys. The door to the library opened and it snapped me out of my thoughts. I swung my body in its direction, and I saw Riley standing there. "Hi!" He said this in a deep, baritone voice before he flashed me an awkward smile. "How was your day?" I smiled back before I answered, as I watched him close the distance between us. "I did nothing, just read books." That was a lie. I spent almost the whole day training and running along the forest ground. But he didn't need to know that.

Because it felt like all of a sudden, there isn’t any good person willing to help without having any plans for money extortion or taking the kid away when Zelia and her husband are used to him. I took a peek at my watch, seeing the time that I had given Riley had expired and I was serious about it when I had told her that she would find me at her place if she doesn’t come now. I don’t care about the traffic that I will meet while going there, or how I am trying to invade her privacy. Deep in thoughts, I didn’t even hear when the door had opened until I heard her voice. “Do you really have to keep going on to this extend?” Riley asked, her voice showing how irritated she sounded.

"Come on, Lucius, you can't joke around, and you know I often go to Dhony's bookstore." Lucius chuckled to hear that it was true what Riley said, that he knew very well that Riley liked books. The last time they went there, he bought a book for Riley. And also had some collections from the book place, Riley's favorite place. Riley wiggled her thighs; Lucius immediately realized that Riley wanted to stand up. He hurriedly stood up and wanted to help Riley to stand up. When Riley tried to stand up, she felt her legs were very painful, and she almost lost her balance when trying to stand up. Fortunately, she immediately held Lucius' hand to make him hold her tightly.

Hands that broke away from me to look for new gauze in the bag, which he fixed to my skin with adhesive strips. Was it just imagining it, or did his fingers linger on my hip longer than necessary? It’s little more than a breath, but the fingers tighten viciously. “You, your little she-bitch is being taken care of,” Riley sniffs. “King Kris is going to kill her and make me his queen, as I always should have been.” I groan and lay helpless in my own blood. Riley lets go of my hair. I don’t know what she does with the blood she found there, but she does say, “Ew, gross.” I don’t answer. I can’t muster the energy it would take to respond to Riley. I would if it were Ainslee, but she isn’t here. She’s probably locked up somewhere as well.

Especially Cane. Keeping him under control these past three days had been a full-time job on its own. The moment Carian spoke too much, he got irritated. The moment she smiled, his jaw tightened. The moment she mentioned Gunnar's name, his claws started threatening to come out. I had never seen him this close to losing control for this long before. And honestly, I understood why. Riley was gone. Not dead. Not exactly missing either. But gone enough that everywhere now felt empty without her.
