Third Person's POV Ryder took a quick shower, pulled his clothes on, and paused before opening his bedroom door. He closed his eyes and wondered what the hell had gotten into him. It wasn't just his wolf that was responsible for what just happened; he was too. He gave in to the pull and the feelings the temporary mark was causing him to have. He knew he only made it worse for himself and Vanessa. It may have curbed the strong urge and desire for each other now, but it was temporary. It didn't fix anything; it made it worse, strengthening the bond that was going to fade and making his desire for her stronger when it came back.

Anahita Waterwolf POV We waterwolves have resettled on the banks of the Dream River that runs through the place once known as the Barren. Though to use the word 'barren' in relation to this magnificent place feels ridiculous. Many mornings I sit on the balcony of the packhouse, before the pack stirs, gazing out at the churning, roiling, foaming waves of the river, its banks densely packed with rich, dark mud. The colours of the river at dawn--blue, mauve, purple, indigo, green--remind me of the lifestone and that night when the poison was driven out. The lifestone disappeared, it's work done. And Silvia's iron--the physical iron anyway--was also gone.

Since Lord Draven was the one who brought Rain from her womb with his hands during labor, he had developed a liking for her daughter. River could remember those little moments when she’d catch him smiling at her, telling her stories, and even how to hunt. She had always hated the kind of energy Lord Draven was instilling in her little girl, but when she remembered how cruel life could be, she always acted as though she never noticed. River had been brought up in a fantasy, shielded by her big sister who gave her no combat training or taught her how real shit could get. She wouldn't want the same naivety from her daughter.

~Tyra’s Point of View~ Obviously this wouldn’t be my first time being intimate but the anticipation sure made it seem like it. Reba was practically falling over herself trying to chase him down. We came through some brush and I heard the sound of water faintly trickling. It was easy to track Ridge between his scent and the blood on him, which simultaneously made me weak with desire but also disgusted. I didn’t like my mate being hurt and I was desperate to fix his wounds.
