I had no idea what this girl was saying. My chest was tight with emotions I couldn't name. I felt scared and confused at the same time. "My parents were rogues," I said. "My father was a hunter. She’d taken them down so expertly that I wondered how she got into the situation in the first place, how they’d managed to ambush her. I thought about stories I’d heard about rogues. There were known to wreak havoc among packs. If she was a typical rogue then I could see how that would be. No wonder pack leaders usually hated them. So much so that if an alpha or luna crossed paths with one, their first instinct would be to kill. I thought about what this meant for my mate, and how my mother would take it. Would my mother try to kill my mate? Of course, I couldn’t let anything happen to her.

I am twenty years old, and I have been a rogue my whole life. I don't know who my parents are. I don't know if they are dead or alive or if they ever wanted me. I don't know anything about where I came from. All I know is that I have been on my own since before I can remember, stealing and lying and fighting just to stay alive. That is what rogues do. Shifting my gaze to the window, I tried to divert my thoughts and the longing ache for the Rogue Pack. There was only one other topic to shift to of that was the case; Connor's parents.
