Far across the city, in the fog-wrapped forests that bordered the outskirts, a man ran on four limbs—barefoot and shirtless—toward the circle of cabins hidden within the pines. He shifted as he entered the clearing, bones snapping, muscles rearranging until he stood tall again, panting and human. Inside the largest cabin, seated before a roaring fire, was a man with golden eyes. Radiating dominance, power, and age, the Rogue Alpha didn’t move as the scout knelt before him. “She’s attending the gala, Alpha.” The golden-eyed man finally turned his head. His gaze was ancient and dangerous. “Elaina Rivers?” “Yes. She received the invitation this morning.”

The rogues were dealt with, and we mourned the losses as a pack, but when I returned home with my dad he was changed. Struggling and missing my mom, I felt like I couldn’t rely on my dad because he was dealing with his own grief. At first, he just zoned out, like he was stuck in some sort of zombie state. I needed support, but I wasn’t getting it from him, so one night I just took off into the forest. I think at first, I was hoping more rogues would come and take me too. I didn’t want to go on without my mom. I was basically alone in the house because my dad was worthless in his mourning.

Terrified doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. The slavers came and tore apart my rogue camp like it was nothing. They herded us like animals, and now we stand in the main city, ready to be auctioned off like cattle. I may only be ten, but rogue children grow up faster than those who live in packs. Rogues aren’t always evil. Yes, some of us are banished for crimes, but many don’t like the strict life of being in a pack. Many Alpha’s rule their packs with an Iron fist. They tend to be unfair and unjust to lower-ranking pack members. That’s why my parents left their pack. They left before I was born. I was born a rogue, and now I’m about to become a slave.

Xiao POV~ What! Is this a joke? how can we be mated to a rogue? Among all she wolves, a rogue?”. I cringed when I remembered where I stayed. Honestly I didn’t mean to sound that harsh. It’s just ever since my parents were killed by rogues, I hated them with passion. So that’s why I acted on pulse and said what I said. Xavier or anyone else will not understand why it affects why mom and dad’s death affects me so much. I was present when they died. Put yourself in my shoes and Imagine your parents being killed in front. How will you feel?

“Proud? I’m literally every parents worst nightmare for their child.” He chuckled though. “One, I’m not your parent. Two, if anyone was the parent, it was you. You could have actually succeeded and never turned your life around to help other wolves. You could have drowned in all that. But you didn’t. You became you. Someone that not only has the trust of the rogue population to be called their king, but also of our Alpha King who named you First Prince.”

Seraphine asked looking at her son who was busy eating without care in the world. Rogue upon hearing his mother's question stopped eating and smiled. “ To be honest mom, I'm kinda nervous. And I'm kinda sad. I mean my friends and i will probably split since we will be going to different colleges next year” Rogue answered his mother, concomitantly standing up collecting their plates and putting them in the sink.

“Where is your mate now, I have to thank her properly for what she did.” Nathan sighed helplessly, “She...well, my mate is...she is a rogue.” He told his father then looked at him scratching the back of his head, waiting to see his reaction. “Nathan Summers! How dare you leave her out there in danger and come here alone, even after the poor girl took care of you, you still leave her behind to fend for herself, did you reject her because she is a rogue? If you did, I swear to the Moon Goddess that I am going to kill you and bury you next to your mother!”

Frankly, I don't know why you are in a human town. My sigh grows deeper. "First, I don't know what a rogue is. I'm not familiar with the concept of a pack, unless you're referring to a pack of dogs. How I ended up here is a mystery. My human parents have yet to disclose who I am or why I am here. Because they have been wonderful parents to me, I have not wanted to hurt their feelings.
