The man in the middle, the one I’d seen earlier, grinned, his teeth gleaming like a wolf’s in the moonlight. “Chasing you is fun,” he drawled, his voice oozing malice as his tongue darted out to wet his lips. “But you have to know you can’t run from us.” The rogue to his right sneered, his eyes alight with cruel amusement. “I wonder if she tastes as good as she smells,” he taunted, snapping his jaws in a grotesque mimicry of a bite.

He winces as if even talking causes him a great deal of pain. He spits the blood out and opens one eye. The other eye is swollen and sealed shut. Though clarity followed soon enough. “Let go of me, you bastard,” he growled. “Who the hell are you?” Damien asked. “You aren’t one of my pack.” “I’m a rogue, and damn proud of it,” Crow said. He grinned, that same shit-eating grin was even more unnerving without the skull mask. His eyes were wild, even with the large bruise blooming over half-his face. He looked crazed. “Feel that, Alpha? It’s shame. A rogue destroyed your warriors.”

“Not all of us need to spar with someone to test our strengths and I definitely don’t need to beat the shit out of a bag.” This guys obnoxious attitude was on another level and I was more than ready to put my fist through his face. “No, you just take the pussy’s way out and stick a gun in their face.” He smirks at me, a dark glint in his eyes. “You have no fucking idea, Rogue.” I get up, growling. “Call me a fucking Rogue one more time!” His smirk turns into a grin. A laugh rumbles from inside of him and he turns away from me.

The third, clearly the leader, had a hulking frame, his hair matted and greasy, and a cruel scar running from his temple to his jawline. I felt bile rise in my throat as their stench, a mix of decay and blood hit me. The leader’s grin widened as he crouched down, his voice a guttural growl. “Pretty thing like you shouldn’t be out here all alone. Dangerous, isn’t it?” My breathing hitched as I scrambled backward. “S-Stay away!” The rogue with the missing eye laughed, his voice raspy and cruel. “Listen to her. She thinks she can order us around.”

Then their lips pulled back in feral grins, sharp teeth glinting like knives. As if we were lambs to the slaughter. “Stay close,” Rick growled, his voice thick and guttural now that he was fully in battle mode. “Como se eu estivesse prestes a me divorciar de você agora,” I muttered in annoyance, my grip on the ax firm as I squared my stance. The first rogue lunged, a blur of teeth and fur. Rick met it head-on, his massive form crashing into it with a force that shook the ground. But I didn’t have time to marvel. Another rogue charged at me, its eyes gleaming with a bloodthirsty hunger.

Still, he walked like a man who believed none of it mattered. Then his eyes found mine, and I kid you not, people, the bastard smiled. The smile was not by any standard, a warm one, or even a remorseful smile. No. It was a grin made of cold steel and old games, twisted just enough to make my stomach lurch.

Another rogue said and they look at each other smiling like crazy, they might be thinking right now that they succeeded in provoking me. If there's one thing I've learned over the years of torturing rogues, it's that they love talking nonsensical things to save their lives. I snarl at them causing them to stop smiling and even if they're trying to hide it, I can sense that they're starting to get frightened by my presence. They were just standing there and I didn't give them any more chance to speak as I sprint towards them and start attacking the rogues. I bite the first rogue's shoulder causing him to shout in agony while saying all the cursed he can remember, the second rogue then climbed

He is not making this easy. She turns sharply to look at him—her jaw tight, her expression incredulous—and there it is. That grin. That look. God. He’s smirking at her with that maniacal smile—the kind that makes him look feral and otherworldly. It's the kind of expression that belongs to someone ancient and merciless, someone dragged out of the pit of hell just to destroy her. That grin of his, stretched with wicked glee, framed by his tousled dark hair and the low light casting shadows across the hollows of his face—it makes her stomach twist in ways it shouldn’t.
