I stared at it, too shocked to pull my arm away. When she was done, she brought her hands to my face, pressing them at the corners of my mouth until she stretched it into a smile. “Is it true that you’re grumpy all day?” Grumpy? A chuckle escaped me. The girl gave a satisfied nod and ran off again. Jumpie let out a squeaky sound, making me look up at her. She puffed up her cheeks as if she were mimicking me. “That’s not true,” I muttered. “I don’t look like that.”

Sam piped up, smiling knowingly at me, an expression which I soon discovered was mirrored by Juliette and Beckham too. "And what makes you think that?" I asked back. "Maybe because you have your Hawk grin on," Juliette singsong, leaving me confused. "Hawk grin?" "She means that stupid grin you have on your face whenever you're chatting with Hawk," Beckham mused matter-of-factly. "What? I do not have a Hawk grin," I protested. But if they heard me, they didn't show it as they were too busy chuckling to themselves. They've got to be kidding me. Hawk grin? Yeah, right!

Grian tilted his head sidewards and grinned. “Of course. I don’t want my boss getting mad at me for not going to work,” she said and cunningly grinned. Grian smirked and nodded his head. “Is this flirting?” he asked directly and she laughed and shook her head. “Oh please, this ain’t enough to be called flirting,” she answered and he smirked.

Grace growled again, this time, the sound more menacing and the wolf growled right back. And then I knew. I realized why it stared at me with laughter in its eyes. I was wrong to think Grace’s growling sounded menacing. To this wolf, it must have sounded like a whining pup because when the beast in front of me opened its mouth, a sound that shook the ground filled the air. I found myself ducking even as Grace flinched, taking a step back and lowering her head despite every fibre of my being screaming against showing deference. My teeth gnashed and I fought the force making me lower my head. And as I raised my head, a sigh fell from my lips.

” She rushed with an apology, but I quickly shook my head and touched her lips to silence her. ”Shush, my dear, it's not you. They look at me. It's been a while since they have seen me smile so wholeheartedly.” I smiled at her and stole glances at the crowd, ”Or they had never seen me this way. They probably know me by one facial expression: grumpy. I am laughing now, thanks to you, so don't apologize. Enjoy that.” I leaned and pecked her nose before linking everyone to continue the party, but the shock was more substantial than my suggestion, and nothing happened.

" Eek!" Towcs narrowly dodges her ribbon and lands next to me. " Towcs! What attacks do fake sheeps have?!" I asked. " Huh?! Um... Bite, cling, swam and bum shaking." Towcs listed out. " What's bum shaking for?" " To convince predators that we are tasty so that others can run away. " " So basically distraction. Towcs jump over there and shake your bum!" " Eh?! Why me?? I'm not delicious!!"

“I like that he makes you happy.” “Me too,” I whisper. Too happy for words to adequately describe. Her fingers brush my jaw, she runs a thumb over my lips. I tense. “Do you like girls?” “No,” she replies. The space between us vanishes. Her knee presses to mine and I curl against the railing. This is getting awkward real fast. “Why?” “You’re looking at me strange.” She backs away. “You’re a sheep.” “Meh,” I sing, mimicking a sheep to mask my relief at the distance she creates. “Meh. Meh.”

Lumpy attempts to intimidate me. The manic laugh leaves me before I can stop it. I wipe off the imaginary tear as I shake my head, “you can’t surround a lion with a bunch of lazy sheep,” I laugh out and flip them both off. “Don’t be scared of me, guys. It’s up to you what you do. Run or come at me. Oh, flippity-fuck, how I hope you are to choose the latter one. Come on, try me, baby. Fuck me over.”

awkward. Mason catches my glance, his lips twitching as he gives me a knowing shake of the head. I grin, mouthing, "Sorry. Can't help it."
