By the end of it, my blood boiling. Livid, I sunk my nails into the ground and twisted my head, glaring at him. His eyes had gone golden and his grin was spread wide, the left side of his face twitching with veins forming at his forehead. Aside from his deranged expression, he looked completely smug, as if his chest wasn’t just pierced right through. Was he faking it? Pain?

With a sinister grin, I sternly asked to intimidate the first rogue that I was interrogating. "Not gonna tell, asshole. I'd rather die." The rogue spit on me as he responded with a smug grin on his face, making me laugh. "Oh, you think I won't? Then you're wrong." Without remorse, I slit his throat slowly with a sliver.

"Define reason." A grin split his face so fast she doubted he even realized he'd done it. Holy damn. It changed his whole appearance, infused the golden flecks in his eyes, and gave her a full-body tingle. From the inside out. His hardened edges disappeared, transforming sully and brooding into charming and approachable. "I was right," she breathed. "Your grin is panty-melting." He flinched, his brows furrowing. "Boo. And there it goes." She shrugged, feeling the loss all the way to her toes. "I'll bring it back eventually."

My mouth dropped; a scream dangerously close to escaping when his lips tipped up in a crooked grin. He held his pointer finger up to his mouth, then vanished.

The rogue rose his head with a sneer, not the thin sweat on his nose nor the blood dripping from his jaw could dim that taunting grin, "Like how you imagine lynching me would go well with your good Alpha?" "That's your last words?" The smirky guy let out a short laugh, but it didn't prevent him from swinging the whip again, leaving another scarlet stripe on the rogue's chest. "Well, I AM a curiosity-driven person." The rogue curved his lips, taunting. The smirky guy rose the whip yet again, and the rogue quickly added: "Wait, wait, okay, so, I do want to know who is it that's taking my life. Will you indulge me this question at least?"

I hiss through clenched teeth as I close the space between us. My hand flies through the air and lands with a vicious crack across his face. The sound echoes in the room, loud and satisfying. His head snaps to the side, his dark hair falling slightly into his eyes. He blinks once and again. Then he grins. That slow, cocky, infuriating grin spreads across his face like he's fucking proud of himself. He likes this. "Mmm, you hit just as sweet as you moan, doll face," he drawls, tone laced with smug satisfaction.

The corners of his mouth tip into a dark grin, one that tells me that nothing good is coming my way. “Then, you better be quiet."

I just couldn't stop grinning out the window of the taxi; it was the kind of smile that looked as if it was making fun of everyone. My lips were forming an amusingly shaped mockery: they curved into a U. This grin was such a dear friend; it is an affirmation of achievement, I suppose, that here again I had outsmarted Samuel and slipped away. Everything else just whooshed over us at tremendous speed, the streets of the town becoming a kaleidoscope of colors, of sounds.

He was grinning. What was that supposed to mean?

I said, waving my hand dismissively. They didn’t waste any time and ran, hand-in-hand, out the door, laughing their happiness. I narrowed my eyes and then I nodded at the rogues standing there. They gave me an evil grin and then gave that same grin to each other before quietly hunting their prey. I turned to walk away as the sounds of their screams filled my ears with delight.
