His eyes flashed darkly for a moment. He then lifted his head again. His face was full of tenderness as he softly said, "Ana, there's nothing more important in this world than you. You haven't answered me yet. Will you be my girlfriend?" One hand held red roses, the other an extravagant and sparkling pink diamond necklace, like a dual guarantee representing love and future. This was beyond anything that was written in romance novels. The young ladies in the coffee shop were excited, their faces flushed. Seeing this, they couldn't help but cheer in low voices, "Say yes, say yes!"

How I met him was quite a meet-cute, never have I been in a relationship this passionate. He was everything and supported me, he gave me all I ever asked for. “She’ll probably spend the whole holiday in here if you let her.” I walked the aisles slowly, trailing my fingers over the books. Classics. Thrillers. A whole section of contemporary romance—Mirabel’s doing, mostly. She’d started collecting them in high school, said they were “escapist but smart.” I’d never read them. Too many happy endings. Too much hope wrapped in pretty words. I pulled one down at random. Dark cover, brooding man in a suit, and title written in gold foil: Claimed by the Billionaire. I snorted softly, then slid it back.

, Ryan scoffed and unfortunately, the rest of the people in the class got to hear it. Oh, God! The counselor cringed and waved it aside and resumed with what she was saying. "Um...so, like I was saying, I strongly advise against s3x before marriage. I mean, what if you two break up and don't end up together? You need to keep your dignity for your Mr Right. "But, when you're married, of course,,it becomes the sweetest ingredient". Oh, God! Please, please. Can somebody tell her to skip this part?

“I’m sorry, but it’s true. Men think wiggling their eyebrows at us or doing what you were doing is sexy, but really, it isn’t, especially when you’re dressed like that.” I shrug and slump on the bed next to her. “I just thought it was romantic, you know?” She leans over to the side of the bed and pulls out a romance book from under the pillow. “Use this. It’s the best manual for what girls really like.” I take the book and study the cover. A man is kissing the neck of a woman whose blouse is slightly off her shoulder. “Blah,” I say and toss the book to the side. I actually think I’ve read it before.

You're exactly who I'm writing for. Writing romance — the steamy, unapologetic, adult kind — is genuinely the thing I love most. I love slow burns that make you yell at your screen. I love the moment two characters stop pretending they don't want each other. I love writing the tension right up until it snaps, and then writing what happens after. This genre gets dismissed a lot by people who've never actually read it, but I think it's some of the hardest, most emotionally honest writing there is, and I'm proud to spend my time here. I don't plan on going anywhere. This is home for me as a writer, and I intend to keep building worlds and couples and slow-burn chaos for as long as readers keep
