Are you sure you didn’t fall for him as well?” Emperor Xiang asked, pulling her away from himself.

The novel stated this as historical fact, briefly, in a section of worldbuilding that the author clearly found more interesting than the hero's romantic subplot but had buried in Chapter 74 anyway. Three kingdoms, across what the novel implied was a very long time, for reasons that were never specified.

Liam can't help but notice the sheer number of guards that followed the king into the room, their weapons glinting in the dim light.
