The night felt really heavy. The rain had stopped,. I could still smell it in the air. It was cool and fresh. It came into my room through the little space I had left open by the balcony door. I stood there looking at the garden below me. The roses looked almost black in the moonlight. Everything outside seemed calm. Inside me everything was moving. I put my arms around myself not because I was cold. Because my thoughts were too loud. A lot of things had changed. Loving him meant living with things that were not always clear. It meant knowing that peace would never last forever.

I needed to cut her off. "Look, they're doing the walking around the fire thing." She said. I hummed non committal. "I read about it in this book by Drethi Anis. Five thousand nights of obsession. The book was so good." "You read?" I asked. I had never seen any book in her apartment or caught her with a book. "Yes." She blushed, then quietly. "Romance books." "You don't strike me as the romance type." I looked at her intently. "Is it one of those raunchy books with shirtless men carrying scabbards on the cover."

“I don’t know how I know, but I have a feeling that you’re more than you seem to be, Jenna.” I bite my tongue. Even Lorcan knows there is more to me than meets the eye. Longing twists my insides at the vision of a shapely man holding a brunette in his loving arms, as the title suggests. They're naked. Their flushed bodies were wrapped haphazardly in a white satin sheet. "Are you looking for anything in particular?" Kade calls from across the library.

Chapter 1 I sat at my desk trying hard to focus on the book in front of me, but it was a losing battle. Although Rhyme of The Ancient Mariner may be an all time classic, it was nowhere near as interesting as Miss Ross's amazing ass. Friday's were dress down days for the teachers and I lived for them. Usually on these afternoons I was treated to the sight of my favorite teacher's fine ass in a pair of fairly tight jeans.

She is smiling like she found something that just made her day. “What’s with the books?” Romy bounced onto the bed, “First, the romance book section in your library is awesome. We totally need to check it out together. Second, I got these pack law books. These are the first two of four.” I smiled. Of course, she had already gone to the library. Her weapon is her mind and sharp tongue. She uses them well, too. “Did you find something interesting?”

But Arabella’s heart had already begun beating far too quickly. A breeze moved softly through the marketplace between them. Neither spoke for several moments. Then Edwin finally gestured toward the bookstore. “Do you enjoy reading?” “Yes.” “What sort of books?” Arabella hesitated. “Poetry mostly.” One dark brow lifted slightly. “Romantic poetry?” Her cheeks warmed instantly. “Sometimes.” Edwin looked dangerously amused again. “You continue to surprise me, Lady Arabella.” “And you continue mocking me.” “Only because you blush so beautifully.” The words escaped him so naturally that both of them froze afterward.

The knock on my hotel room door came just after midnight. I’d barely gotten my tie off after the long reception when I opened it to find Damien standing there, still in his wedding suit, looking wrecked and determined. “Damien? What the hell… are you okay?” He pushed inside without waiting, kicking the door shut behind him. His hands were on me instantly, pulling me into a deep, desperate kiss that tasted like whiskey and need. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” he confessed against my mouth, voice rough. “All night. During the toasts. The dances. Even when I was cutting that fucking cake. I had to see you.”

"Whatever happened to love each other first then... then doing the deed after. Is everyone after physical contact only these days? What about getting to know each other first? Chivalry? Romantic date?" I sighed and stopped spinning, facing my laptop and visiting a bookstore's site to see what books sell. Ah, of course, my book wouldn't be in the top 10, and I didn't hope so; what's staring back at me is the top 10 best-selling books for the week, where five of ten are Erotic Romance books. "And I thought my company wouldn't be like other companies who are after profit; I was wrong. Then again, business is business."

He pulled a small rectangular pack- age out of his jacket pocket and placed it in my lap. "Oh... I have a present?" I lifted the package and unwrapped the soft blue tissue. It was a book. A very old and very special book. My heart started thump- ing hard as I realized precisely what Ethan had given me. "Lamia, Isabella, The Eve of St. Agnes, and Other Poems by John Keats?" I choked out in complete shock.
