The Mating Ball POV: Rose Rose woke to pots and pans rattling around in the kitchen. That's when she remembered what day it was. Time for the Mating ball. "Willow I guess it is time to get up. We have work to do." said Rose Rose made her way to the bathroom to get her quick shower and change into a pair of jeans and a simple forest green T-shirt. She pull out her favorite brown leather boots. It was going to be a busy day.

The new month started on a Saturday and Rosie paid a visit to Gregory at his residence. She exited the kitchen with a stuffed plate of home-baked biscuits by Mrs Dee. Placing the snack on a side table, she took a seat beside Gregory and rested her head on his chest. "How has your weekend been so far?" He surfed through the channels and stopped at Judge Rudy, a crime series he realized Rosie loved a lot. "So far, so good. Nothing much has happened. Aside from being here with you, my weekend has been bland and uneventful." She lay her head on his lap and raised her legs on the chair.

"Audrey, where are you..." The only thing that responded to him was a gust of cold wind. No one paid any attention to him. Only the earth remained in the empty garden. Jeffrey stood on the desolate land, shivering in the face of a head full of stars. "Audrey, do you really leave me?" The wind blew over the leaves of the roses that had fallen to the ground, making a rustling sound. Even the roses were speaking for me. They seemed to express that I didn't want him anymore.

Rose stood on the steps and gaped at the TV screen, on which the clip had been paused. Summer looked beautiful, poised, and commanding on screen, but it was such an unfamiliar sight to Rose. How could this be the same Summer she'd always manipulated and toyed with? After a brief moment of dazedness, anger and terror washed over her. She was in such a dire situation, yet Summer was stomping all over her suffering and putting on such a show before the reporters.

She said flatly, "I can just touch up your makeup a little, and you can head on out after." According to the event schedule, Ezra only needed to show up onstage to present the winning piece. The event had only made it to the jewelry piece showcasing for the time being. Meanwhile, Rose had found a seat amongst the audience, waiting for the participants' pieces to be revealed one by one. When the session neared its end, the host announced, "Now let us invite our 28th participant, Ms. Kelly Shaffer." Rose's heart leaped into her throat as she watched Kelly walk onstage, dressed in a striking red dress. She was all smiles, wearing Rose's favorite color today.

TWO HOURS LATER, Scene from the party : Rose stood there in one corner of the large hall with her drink in hand and eyes randomly staring ahead at specific nothing. She couldn't help but feel disappointed to not get any significant information about Daniel from his friends. They knew as much as she knew. Daniel was busy in conversation with Mason and others but from time to time Rose could feel his protective gaze on her. Letting out a deep sigh, she turned to walk towards the bar to get herself another drink. The loud music was now getting on her nerves. She has never been a party person hence feeling out of the place is no new feeling for her.

The host said and waved at the camera. Rose was still looking at the tv even after the show had ended. Her feelings and thoughts were just going haywire. While looking into his eyes through the screen, it felt like she was feeling every word he said. She could feel his emotions in that stare. She didn't even realize that she was still looking at the tv screen with all sorts of emotions running through her.

Rose quietly unlocked the door and slipped out of the room. Without wasting a second, she booked a taxi and left from there. 🚕🚕 Meanwhile, when Daniel Blackwood finished his call and entered the room, his eyes immediately shifted toward the washroom. The door was open. He walked into the attached changing area. Empty. Rose was gone. A sharp silence filled the room. In a sudden burst of anger, Daniel stormed back into the room, grabbed a flower vase from the table, and smashed it onto the floor. 💥

Rose returned a frustrated grin at Emily, one that she'd explain the next time they saw. "Rose, my dear," Sebastian said, sighing deeply ,his hands delicately gliding over her shoulders, his touch sending a shiver down her spine. "Please, go and get dressed. I have something special that I want to show you." Rose gazed up at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and anticipation. Uncertain of what lay ahead, she simply nodded in silent agreement, rising from rising from her seat and preparing herself for the unknown.

She glanced at Hugo, who was staring at her with a mixture of terror and burgeoning, impossible hope. “I… I need…” Rosie stammered. “Use the couch,” Cassie offered, gesturing to the worn sectional where Rosie and Debby had been perched. “Assume the position. Narrate it for us. We’ll imagine Hugo.” It was a cruel compromise, a pantomime of intimacy. But it was a way out of actual contact. Rosie, with trembling limbs, got up and walked to the couch. She lay down on her back, her dress riding up her thighs. She closed her eyes, as if to block out the twenty-six other eyes watching her.
