T-they…are dead? My heart started to beat erratically, a pounding in my chest that felt as if it was threatening to burst forth. I couldn't seem to get my lungs to function properly anymore; the air felt thick and heavy, and no matter how hard I tried I could not seem to take a full breath of much needed oxygen. It was like I had been submerged underwater and every passing second became more difficult to survive. The panic rising within me only added on top.

How could she be so careless? The thought sparked a burn in his chest, a subtle tightness that made each breath feel heavier. He cursed under his breath and pushed open his bedroom door, stepping inside. The air felt too thick. He crossed to the nightstand in three strides, snatched his inhaler, and pressed it to his lips. One deep, practiced breath, and the cool rush of medicine opened his lungs just enough to ease the pressure. He sat down on the edge of his bed, elbows on his knees, inhaler still in his hand, breathing slowly until the pounding in his chest steadied.

He's never felt this warm before in his entire life. Alexander just mumbles before rolling away, he turns his back to Adom without a care in the world. Adom holds back a huff as he gets up to take a shower. Except when he gets up the ache in his chest seems to expand. He grabs at his sternum like he can feel what's wrong with his fingers. It hurts so much it's becoming impossible to breathe. Alexander must hear him gaping like a fish out of water because suddenly he's face-to-face with a very anxious Alexander. "What's wrong?" Alexander grabs at his shoulders, concern evident on his face. Adom just continues to try and drag in breath after breath unsuccessfully, starting to feel lightheaded.

I wasn’t sure if I liked it since I have tried so hard throughout my life to not be so transparent to others. “Something doesn’t feel right, I can’t explain it. All I know is it feels like something is seriously wrong or about to go wrong. The best way I can describe what I am feeling is that it almost feels as if there is a heavyweight on my chest, making it feel as if it is difficult to breathe.” I explained.

His chest was going up and down in rhythm. This is trouble!

He got out of that shitty situation. He glanced around again. A few cars sped by. Not one driver paused to take a look at him. Maybe they all thought he was just a regular jogger in the area. He looked ahead and kept up his brisk steps. He could taste his own blood from his cut lip, and he could smell his own sweat, but he wasn't coughing up blood yet. Good sign. The consistent, annoying pain in his lower chest area whenever he breathed in was a symptom of something serious, though. The slight swelling and tenderness around his lower ribs, coupled with a little pinkish bruising on his abdomen, were also telltale signs.

My breathing increases, my chest tightens. I stumble on my feet as memories flash before my eyes. I suck in my breath. Tears gathered in my eyes. It trails down after my blinking. My sight gets blurry and I hit the ground.

I can feel sweat gathering on the back of my neck and the palms of my hands. My chest feels like it's going to explode, like my ribs are caving in and my lungs are constricting. I try to focus on breathing, but it feels like there's a heavy weight on my chest and I can't draw in enough air. My hands start shaking, and I feel dizzy and nauseous. My breaths are coming out in short gasps now, and my chest tightening. Desperate to get out of here, I ignore Devon and run to the back of the house, making it to the porch before my legs give way and I fall to the ground.

"No. No. No." The panic started like a tightening of the chest, as if the muscles were trying not to let another breath in, but instead to die. Then the breath comes, shallow, lungs unable to move much against the suddenly heavy ribs. Then his mind becomes static, thoughts making no sense, and replays horrors once forgotten

I whisper. I could feel my breath becoming shallow and rapid as if I couldn't draw in enough air no matter how hard I tried. Panic gripped my chest, squeezing it tightly, making it feel impossible to expand and fill my lungs. Each inhale was met with a surge of fear, while each exhale felt like a feeble attempt to release the overwhelming pressure building inside me. My heart raced uncontrollably, pounding in my ears like a relentless drumbeat. Its erratic rhythm echoed the chaos that consumed my mind.
