He must be. As if the light gave me courage, I started walking faster and faster towards it. I passed along many closed doors as I got closer and closer to the ray of light. It was like having a target gave me strength and I found myself heading towards the light without any hesitation. It didn’t take very long for me to arrive where the ray of light shone onto the floor in the hallway.

And I am going to win. "Go!" The whistle blows and I find myself running inside with others. As I move inside, darkness again invites me. Like the previous one. I feel the waves of the other students, some scared,some excited,some hungry for winning. But strangely there is no other wave other than the students. Hmm. Wouldn't there be any surprise attacks? I stare ahead and find a small ball of light shining from the distance. Definitely I have to go there. So I run towards it feeling Tessa and Jessica running behind me. I completely forgot Jessica. And the fact that she is a Crescent!

The door swung open, and the wolf who had bitten me reached in. "Time to move," he hissed, his hand lunging for my waist. I didn't wait. I ducked under his outstretched arm and threw myself out the open door. My feet hit the damp ground, and I didn't stop to breathe. "Hey! He’s running!" I bolted into the darkness of the cave. "Get him!" Mirabel’s voice shrieked from behind the carriage. "Don't let him reach the tunnels!" I pushed my legs harder, my heart hammering against my ribs. The sound of heavy, rhythmic paws hit the stone behind me. I didn't look back. I ran toward a faint, shimmering light at the end of the passage, desperate to find anywhere to escape.

I kept on moving, but the whispers were louder, they were yelling my name now instead of just whispering, so I moved forward. Ahead of me, I could see the lights that must be where the castle was, it's where I was supposed to go, I ran toward it, I ran, I was so close, but then I was so far away, I looked ahead and saw that the castle had gotten farther away now, one second it was right in front of me, and the next it's gone.

My heart racing, I started running blindly forward, my feet pounding against unseen ground. The howling wind grew stronger, threatening to lift me off my feet. Desperately, I searched the blackness for any sign of escape or refuge. There! In the distance, the faintest glimmer of light. I ran faster, my lungs burning, desperate for that little beacon of hope. As I drew closer, I could make out the jagged form of a cave.

It was almost as if they'd expec. Jason cried out suddenly, as a huge flood light was switched on, bathing the entire area around him in painfully bright light. The shadows abruptly disappeared, and he was cast out into the open, defenseless and disoriented. He ran as hard as he could for the stairwell, blinded by the light, but it felt slow and sluggish compared to the lightning fast way he could travel through shadows.

"Yes, I am real. We are here to help. How did you find us?" The person starts running up to me, they are all in tatered clothes, and some are completely naked with burns all over. I turned a corner— And froze. A figure stood at the end of the corridor.

Still, she pushed forward, tearing through the undergrowth as the beam of light roared behind her. She darted through fallen trees, scraped her legs on sharp rocks, her lungs heaving. But no matter how fast she ran, the light followed, like it had chosen her. “No, no, not now!” she cried. The light caught her again, and this time, there was no escape. It enveloped her in searing brightness. She screamed as fire licked her skin. Her hands turned red. Her feet crumbled beneath her. She fell to her knees, and for a moment, it felt like she was burning alive.
