"Please don’t cry." As she hugged her mother tightly, Violet pulled out Alex's business card from her pocket. I need to do this, she thought to herself. I can’t let them suffer anymore. She stared at the name on the card: Alex Vanguard.

Rafael said to him. “I’m the pack hacker,” Regen said and Slade laughed. “For once, Regen, I’m going to say something nice about you. What this guy can do and find out, will scare you,” Slade said. “Thanks, Slade, you just made my heart go all fuzzy,” Regen said. “Probably from the fungus in your brain,” Slade said. “Sure it is, ass breath,” Regen said. “Calm down, kids,” I said to them.

The steam hit my face, hot and wet. "You made coffee," I said. My voice was a dry rasp. "You were out of the good stuff. Used the backup in the second cabinet." "I didn't tell you I had a second cabinet." "I looked." Jax scrolled through his phone, his thumb dragging across the glass. "You also have three expired protein bars behind the pasta and a bottle of hot sauce you've clearly never opened." I stared at the side of his head. "Were you going through my kitchen, Jax?"

He asked. "Madness?" Alex asked and gave a small laugh. Jumping down from the desk to the floor, landing on his feet. "Oh, this isn't madness Ross, this is the revolution." Ross rolled his eyes and laughed. "The revolution," Ross muttered shaking his head. "Are you even hearing yourself?" Suddenly an axe appeared in Ross' right hand. "This isn't a revolution Alex, but it's going to be something alright." Suddenly they weren't inside the office building anymore, but standing outside on a vast field.

River Crap! Crap! Crap! Zach was glaring at me angrily. My blood began to boil, “Stop! I was here last night.” I knew what he was going to ask, his judgy eyes giving it away. “Then why did he ask if your name was Raven? Raven is your bike’s name, Riv’s. How could he possibly know that?” He said, his jaw clenching roughly. Ugh! It’s true though, on the side of my bike and helmet, I have ‘Raven’ spelled out. I composed myself and tried giving him a stern look with a tone that matched.

I got this hunch that he'd become aware of my gaze and was about to return it, so I looked away immediately. "Are you aware that the rainbow is just an illusion?" He asked turning to me, with that cute smile still playing on his lips. "Huh?" "The rainbow," he repeated, pointing towards it "it's an illusion cast on the sky due to the reflection of light" "Really" I said. He scoffed and silence reigned once again. I figured it was now time to part ways before he begins to grow on me. "I'm about to go in now," I said reluctantly "Which hospital building do you stay?" I grabbed the arms of his wheelchair.

“This isn’t mandatory, obviously. But turning it down when your name was hand-picked looks… ungrateful. And frankly, a little shortsighted.” I shrug. “I’ll live with the guilt.” She studies me for a beat, like she’s trying to figure out if I’m bluffing. Then she flips open the folder in front of her and scans a page. “Fine. I’ll let them know we need to reassign. Shame, though. Moscow is full of famous people.” Everything in me freezes. “Moscow?” My voice comes out quieter than I mean it to. “It’s in Russia?” Karen looks up, surprised by the sudden shift in my tone. “Yes. Hosted by the Russian Ministry of Health in collaboration with several international partners—why? Does that change somet

I didn't have time to process why she did that. The next second, an immensely heavy object slammed into my back with great force. My vision went black, and I was instantly crushed by the cupboard behind me. The cupboard was made of solid wood, and it weighed over 130 pounds. It was unbearably heavy. I very nearly suffocated under its weight as intense pain shot up from the right side of my body and my right hand. With much difficulty, I lifted my head. The only thing I saw was Flora's indifferent gaze. She watched my struggle with a detached look as if she were watching a play.
